It would seem that the standard response by many christians regarding the non-existence of god is "Prove it".
And I wondered if they understand the premise of "Burden of Proof"?
Basically, for those who don't,it is up to those making the claim to provide proof or at the very least evidence of their claim not for others to disprove their claim.
Does this clarify things?

I read Phillip Pullmans His Dark Materials trilogy and I'm christian I didn't know when I bought the book that he was atheist. Obviously while reading it I discovered that it was. It didn't change my faith but it did open a lot of 'What if?' questions. It opened me to different veiwpoints.
My question is why do christians hate it so much? I mean all it did was make me think outside the box. To think beyond the information given in any media. Which nowadays seems a little un-christianlike.
It just makes me feel like most christians don't believe in their faith enough to watch a movie or read a book that doesn't have their veiwpoints...so I watched the movie or read the book and now it magically converted me to non-belief!
By the way I was eleven when I read them. Pease don't be harsh I'm only asking a question not bashing my own faith.

We don't have to look too far to find Him.
We don't have to read to whole bible to find him, only two words in the bible will give you a hint of His whereabouts. these two words are all over the bible. The truth is not hidden from us but for us. It's very simple, " God will use the foolish things to confuse the wise"
When we become conscious of His name all our troubles will be over. Amen

Would someone like to email me on salvation. I have put on the mask long enough, and I wish with all my heart to be saved. I keep running from God, ask for forgivness but never stop my sin. I just keep running further and further from God, but I am ready to stop, take off my sandals and run to Christ...

Would someone please help guide me in the right direction, no more show for me.... I am broken and tired of my sin...

I like worms.I'll open a can. If you don't care, why are you so mean and negative? If you have the right not to believe and have judgment not passed on you why don't Christians? Now I'm not talking about all just the negative ones.

"God" seems so...eh. If Giselle was named..."Sally," I think that would be a bit boring. Anyone got a sweet name for God (and don't say Yahweh). Something like "Voltron, Overload of the Universe."

what do you think about their teachings. i am buddhist and have been learning about jesus. if you dont think about the after life. then their teachings are almost the exact same.

if jesus didnt talk about god. it would be buddhism.

i mean the precepts and the ten commandments are almost the exact same. and other things like it.

what are your thoughts about this?

I have the following already

2.purifying the body and announcement of the dead
3. The mummification process
4. The embalming process
5. the bandaging of the body
6. the final procession
7. the opening of the mouth ceremony
8. The weighing of the heart.
I have 2000 words but and need only 500 more is the anything else I can add to it, that is a part of the Egyptians process in reaching the afterlife.
Thank you so much,

" even deep down right in there is nothing, but emptiness & darkness"

How does this quote and feelings like these contrast with what true believers in Jesus Christ have experienced for 2000 years?

with loads of questions on. I asked them about what they are, they said a religion. I asked if they believed in aliens, they said no. I asked if they believe in God, they said no. I asked what they actually believe and they said it was about spirituality and self improvement. But they didn't actually say that they actually have any beliefs or faith in anything. What are they? I mean, really? This sheet had questions on it like "Do you sometimes feel like you have said things to people which may cause offence?" Surely everybody does that. Are they just looking for gullible punters, or what?

Guys seriously, it's just a movie, actually it's a book, but it tells of a non existent reality in which a very extremist version of the Catholic church is evil. Any views or opinions?

See I have thing against prophets, I believe no one is hearing Gods voice. So I said to God "if any come in your name before me and say God said this to me to say to you ...so and so. They must bring some kind of password to me". I am like a locked computer, I will not open to them unless they have one. So I have had 1 pastor, and like 4 Christians come to me saying God said this, but bring no password. They get mad at me and say God does not need a passward, for I am in his will. The pastor just ran from me and said I will pray someone gives you a password. Heck if God did not like my password they could have said it them selfs, to not test the Lord your God before they spoke to me. But no one comes to me with this password, but many come to tell me what to do in God's name.

I am a follower of only his voice, and I have tried very, very hard to listen for it. I am sure the thousands of christians that say they hear his voice..."think they hear it" or make it up. So why lie to me?

I've heard countless times that we are infringing on this right, which is the right to endorse their particular beliefs. Imagine instead that public schools were to give a Muslim prayer. In place of the 10 commandments would be an excerpt from the Quran. Would removing this be infringing upon Muslims' rights?

What is with this persecution complex??

In a previous question, someone asked if fooling around before marriage was ok as long as you didn't have sex. I personally have no problem with premarital sex, but for people who believe this, how do you define what is sex and what isn't? I've heard of some Christian girls who believed this who would have anal sex or oral sex and still claim virginity. I've even heard of a girl who got herpes in her armpit because of the belief that premarital sex was wrong.

and since evolution proceeds by the accumulation of many small scale changes,

if there were no barrier to these small changes, you would expect the changes to give an incredible diversity of living organisms (the way the fossil record shows).

So, what barrier to constant change do you propose?
