The only thing I don't like about some Christians is the superiority complex many seem to have. Personally, I could care less who or what Christians believe in. I do care when they treat me as a lesser human being simply because I do not share their beliefs. Believe it or not, many of us "non-believers" are actually pretty good people with high morals, a charitable nature, and a willingness to try to understand others. I actually admire people who are willing to devote their entire lives to their faith. I happen to place my faith in my fellow man. Sometimes I am disappointed, but most of the time, they show me my faith is not displaced.
So to answer your question, there are negative Christians and negative atheists - it is just how some people are built. Their spirituality (or lack thereof) is not the issue, it is simply a character flaw.

It's easy to stereotype. As a christian ,I could easily say that most, if not all atheists are hateful and callous toward Christians. But, I have to believe that not all atheists feel that way. Also, not all Christians are dogmatic and hateful, although some if not many of us can be a be a little more than a bit annoying to say the least. That's why, as an ex-Fundy, I am a contemplative. And I have found, that although I definitely am a christian, I often times feel more comfortable around non Christians esp Buddhists.

although i believe that God is not real, the message... is.
love and kindness, etc...
the "abolishment" of God would mean that the message would be lost as well. The world needs this message, and if the only way it will survive is if there is a God to believe in, then so be it.
i I don't have to believe in God to understand the teachings of the bible, and i think if people can start realizing this and stop arguing about how real God is, and who's right and wrong, and just focus on the morals of the bible, the world would be a better place.
The real purpose of the bible has been lost over time, and has become a never ending war,
respect other religions... while keeping your own, and live your life, practicing what is preached.

We do care, idiot. We care that you are trying to interfere in our lives just because you think your religion says you can. If you butt out, you won't get the reactions you do. You see... you get to hear the truth on the net while most Atheists would dare tell you this stuff face to face because of your reaction. You can make our real life absolutely miserable just by being your annoying Christians selves. On the internet, we have anonymity so we can say what we really think about your behavior without fear that we'll be blackballed, or worse.

What is an atheist? Just because someone does not believe your story does not detract from his concept of 'God' as defined by his own perspective. I think it takes a very wise man to be a skeptic when you view the fact that Christians claim that they are 'believers', which mean they do not know but 'assume' and in the same breath lie that they are witnesses to what they merely suppose. A witness would know, because he was there. What other lies you have in store? That Canaan lost his land because Ham saw Noah's balls?

By phrasing your question like that, you lose credibility with athiests and you lose ground for Christianity. You're making a presumptuous, offensive statement before you even finish your question. Atheism, like Christianity, has its novices, and even its mavericks....and you should know that. There are plenty of well-mannered athiests and Christians just as there are plenty of ill-mannered ones. A better way, perhaps, to say what you're thinking is: "How do athiests account for the concept of morality among human beings if the highest standard they have to go by is human beings?"

To balance things out, I guess. There are some extremely hateful and negative Christians, too. Why don't you just ask why do hateful people come here? Do you have a little bias in you?

I believe some of the atheist are here to make trouble...
While others who seem to dwell in here are unsure about their decision... seeking and searching for an answer or that something to fill their emptiness.
The something that Christians have... which is the inner peace and hope for things to come in eternity, because all atheist have is the now.
What a miserable existence to believe this life is all there is!

For me Yahoo!Answers isn't about who has a right to believe what, this is about making people angry at a distance. I'm a young man and I'm constantly testing my limits and abilities. Right now the ability I'm testing is how pissed off can I make people on my computer. So don't get mad, my bashing isn't a personal attack on you, I'm just trying to see if I can make you mad. In insulting you I am learning more about myself. You aren't against learning?

Atheists aren't hateful and one of the reasons we answer questions about religion is because we know more about it than you closed and simple minded, judgmental christians.
