what do you think about their teachings. i am buddhist and have been learning about jesus. if you dont think about the after life. then their teachings are almost the exact same.
if jesus didnt talk about god. it would be buddhism.
i mean the precepts and the ten commandments are almost the exact same. and other things like it.
what are your thoughts about this?

As a Muslim, I believe Jesus was a prophet of God and the Messiah of Jews.
All prophets called for worshiping God and morality.
As for Buddha, I don't know much about him .. but i believe he created a philosophy rather than a religion.

Yes, there is alot of similarities in the teachings. Just as there is in all relgious teachings.
TO Toadly: why don't you ask the Buddhists monks of Sri Lanka that advocate violence and break out in fist fights at peace rallies where the sword belongs in their religion. Or the Tibetian Buddhists who were at war with the Tibetian Animsts for 400 years (although Buddhist history claims it had been going on sincce 1800 BCE making it the longest war ever, even before Buddhism), they were basically about as kind to the native Animists as the US was to the Indians. Zen buddhists overwhelmingly supported and fought in the WWII for the Japanese. How about the NU People (buddhist) which every man of the sect is required to carry a machete at all times. Buddhists were also the ones that overthrew and killed Diem (although they did have good reason, he was afterall Diem). They also overwhelmingly supporter General Thi (a buddhist) who committed some of the worst Vietnamese atrocities of the war, then of course changed their mind. Pro Buddhist army forces took over central Vietnam and fought with the Viet Cong.. Also two-thirds of Pol Pots supporters and members of khmer Rogue Army were Buddhist. The Kalachakra Tantra even predicts a buddhist holy war against another certain religion I will not name in 2424. Perhaps anyone of these could answer that question for you.
I have alot of respect for alot of Buddhist writing but the religion is no better or worse then any other and alot of people have alot of misconceptions as what it actually is.
Also toadly I guess the concept of a metaphor is lost on you.
I like best how it was put by Peter UkO (?)......
There are universal questions and truths among religions three of them are: (1) "Every religion is against violence", (2) "We live in a world of violence", and (3) "Is there a place for justifying violence in our religious traditions?"
NO religion has answered no there is no place for justification. Maybe someday we will.

The evidence for Jesus is the thousands of years of Jewish prophecy that Jesus fulfilled. Fulfilled prophecy testifies that Jesus is the Messiah the Jews were waiting for. That shows that Jesus IS the Messiah, the Son of God, the King of Kings, the Word, the Alpha and Omega.
Buddhism, as you know, is a non-theistic religion.
The violence you refer to is not supported by Jesus and his teachings. Granted, most is done by Christians, but Christians in error. Also, most wars by Christians are in response to non-Christian aggression. And based on OT theology, that would be allowed. Seriously, if I attacked your wife and kids in front of you, you'd fight back.

Many people think that in his lost years Jesus travelled to India, or at least in some way was influenced by buddhist ideas. In its essence, if you take away hte miracles (obviously theese may have be added by his followers to enhance his status) the teachings are very similar to buddhism. Maybe, maybe not, but there are certainly some similarities - I don't find his teachings at all hard to reconcile with buddism.

You say "if Jesus didn't talk about God" that's like saying if Hot Cocoa wasn't hot it would be chocolate milk...I mean God the Father was all Jesus was about. Salvation was what he preched. it was how we as human could get to God through Jesus Christ. One isn't the same without the other. That is a MAJOR difference in the two.

the afterlife is the most important part of Jesus' teaching. the bible says your life is like a vapor, it is here one minute and gone the next. think about the last 5 years and how fast they've gone bye. that is why you need to consider where you will spend eternity.
and Jesus is God in the flesh. buddha is not.

first of, nice to meet you. Ive been in Korea once and the buddhists there are very welcoming. I drank tea with them. I love buddhists even im a Christian. =)
For most Christians, Jesus is a healer, a merciful savior, a brother, a leader and a forgiver of sins.
Maybe some of our religious are similar as to love and respect our own God, our neighbors and our neighbors' belongings. =)
peace to you. =)

not necessarilly, many people percieve Jesus as a mellow preacher. In reality he wasn't. He constantly challenged the religous leaders and lukeworm belivers. He openly mocked them when talking about the good samaritan. Jesus main focus was on God and letting others into heaven. It wasn't a lot of ideas to reach inner peace

I think when you strip rituals and costums of most religions, they have essentially the same moral and ethical basics...The basics that keep any society from breaking down. 1-Do not kill. 2-Do not lie ,3- No sex ;)4-take care of your body, etc... Since most all human beings have the same basic spiritual makeup; Its no surprise that most religions are spiritually compatible...Some more than others, you can certainly be Buddhist and Christian( Non-theistic and Mono-theistic) Buddhist and Jewish ,never Cristian and Jewish(both mono-theistic religions.)
