I mean, Luther died to make protestants different from the RCC.

Now, they are virtually the same. Protestants eventually went to Sunday worship and picked up Easter and Christmas, as the RCC prescribed.

Other than "how the holy ghost moves, dude!"

is there any real difference?

Should "protest-ants" be now called "accept-ants" ???

Who was the most godly person you ever met? What was it about their lives that made you feel this way? Did they inspire and/or encourage to do anything?

If you had to give advice on how a Christian should behave based on this persons life, what would it be?

I am 14 (almost 15). My mom is baptist, my dad is catholic. I was raised baptist, but I have decided to become Catholic, for spiritual reasons. My parents know and accept it. My dad is happy about it. My dad is currently living out of state but will be back in a couple months. I was wondering if there was like a big sister/brother program for teens looking to become catholic, where a catholic teen that is my age could help me on my way.

I call myself a Christian, but only after years of trying to discover why I was a Christian and exploring other religions. What turned me off before was the feeling that too many ppl seemed to focus on fear and "not going to hell" as there reason for being a Christian. They then proceeded to try and convert others by threatening them with hell. My question is: Why do so many Christians seem to believe more in the power of hell and God's wrath than his love and empathy?

no longer a false prophet???

Do you think it is a wise decision to base one's eternal destiny on the Watchtower Society as God's channel of truth because they admit that they have made mistakes??

The Hebrew Bible is all about repentance and return to doing justice, loving mercy and walking humbly with thy God. It is all about the story of the path of the Hebrews awareness of their role in their relationship and walk with God. Micah summed up the Torah in that manner of "what does the Lord require of thee but to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with thy God. long before Jesus spoke of mercy.
The New Testament changes this and claims that UNTIL Jesus the Gentiles had no path of salvation turning the teachings of Torah and Tanakh topsy turvy! They make God part of an exclusive rights club and try to claim that it is all a matter of belief and not how you live. Then condeming to eternal torture anyone who doesn't believe as they do. Torah doesn't teach that at all

Why did the Jews refuse to believe that Jesus was the real messiah? I mean, Yahweh is THEIR god. The old Testament is THEIR book! If anyone is going to know who the real messiah is it’s going to be the people who wrote the first freakin’ book! Who do these apostles think they are? Coming along and telling the Jews that they know more about the Jewish religion than the Jews themselves. It’s disrespectful, I tell ya! Disrespectful!

that calling names, abusing, threatening and being arrogant and dismissive as well as closed minded about everything that in any way questions their dogma, is not going to win them converts? When will they realise that the behaviour they exhibit to others is what not only they themselves are judged on, but their religion also? When will they realise they are their own worst enemy?

Jesus was most likely just one of the many messiah hopefuls who lived during the Roman oppression, but the only one who had his small band of disciples create a new religion after he died by trying to fit aspects of Tanakh to his life. Why isn't this theory more widely accepted since it is plausible. His followers could have moved the rock thereby creating a new myth to replace the old one.

Only God can be perfect and that is the sacrifice which is required for the atonement of our sins. So, if your theology is correct then the Gospel is wrong because according to prophecy and imperfect sacrifice is not sufficient to restore mankind. If you are right, Jesus died for nothing. How do you get around this theological problem you have created with your doctrines of men.

Yea... I'm not bashing here....but I seem to see Hinduism as a mass-cult rather than a religion.
I mean, you go to every little village in India, each one of those little villages has it's own popular god or goddess, it's different in each community. And yes, they do have common scripture and holy books, but I still see Hinduism as a very intricate cult that has variations. Reminds me sort of like Ancient Rome, there was no official set of gods for any one city, each had their own "populares" or favorite deities they prayed to, you know? It just seem so for Hinduism because of the vast panoply of gods they pray to. Any opinions?

Before I logged onto Yahoo Answers, I found most of the people I met were believers of sorts. Most reckoned Jesus was a good guy and that we were all bound for Heaven.

In all my years, (and I'm in my 50s now), I never met ANYONE who believed the stuff about Hell and Creation. I know a lot of people from the USA use this site. Do a lot of you believe this stuff?

J.K. Rowling has not made any intentional insults towards the Cristian faith. In all due respect, I think you should be more accepting. Her books are meant for entertainment and also teaches many moral values. It encourages the values of bravery and loyaly, for starters. I think that it is unfair the judge the books. Is actually reading them out of the question?
