that calling names, abusing, threatening and being arrogant and dismissive as well as closed minded about everything that in any way questions their dogma, is not going to win them converts? When will they realise that the behaviour they exhibit to others is what not only they themselves are judged on, but their religion also? When will they realise they are their own worst enemy?

Deuce, I do realise. I'm using the same generalisation you yourself have used asking and answering questions. As you yourself used just now in your answer.

problem - Are you going to seriously question the fact that it happens? Just go click a few links. I'm not your babysitter. It's not like you actually have to go anywhere to find the information. It's right here.

chiquitarosita234 - Thank you for your apology, but I doubt by your response that you actually have anything to apologise for. I hope you have a great day. :)

Wired - You are using a generalisation yourself. You are using a select few individuals that conform to your view to make a general statement about Christians. Are you seething yet?

Mr Smarty Pants - your own reply in this is also contributing to the cycle. Your 'holier than thou' attitude is just as bad as my anger.

Charles S - Thank you for your response. I understand that not all Christians are as I described, and that just as many atheists are guilty of it, but we aren't trying to convert you. We just don't agree with you. And it's just a fact of life that the most obnoxious, loud responses will gather the most attention, reflecting badly on your affiliations.

I honestly dont know. I am Roman-Catholic and I have been trying to tell my fellow Christians that telling others they will go to hell isnt helping anyone. They are really just trying to help. I do apoligise for any suffering you might have endured, though.

You are right, many Christians would not know who God was if he sat down and ate breakfast with them. Unfortunately, every religion has it's overzealous nuts, and they seem to stand out more than those who are practicing their faith as it was intended. The zealots of every religion will probably never get a clue, they are so busy trying to convince themselves they are right.
Just because the messenger is a jerk, it doesn't mean the message is wrong.
I am a Christian, and still think most that profess to be Christians are jerks. Try to love them anyway but some do make it difficult. We know what you mean.

When will Muslims extremists realize that their killing, abusing, disrubtive, aggressive, assholes, threatening and being arrogant and dismissive ways as well as closed minded about everything that in any way questions their Allah, is not going to win them converts or sympathy? When will they realise that the behaviour they exhibit to others is what not only they themselves are judged on, but their religion also? When will they realise they are their own worst enemy?
Now they are wanting to make a big deal out of a teddy bear called Mohammed. What a bunch of pricks. Check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Same goes for Atheists, and, well anyone for that matter. The tone of your question is somewhat demeaning, however, and you can't seriously expect anyone to reply positively can you? Your own anger can breed it in others, this is human nature. The best you can do is let negativity fly right past you. Continuing the circle like you're doing won't solve anything, will it?
Addition:
This isn't holier than thou stuff, it's advice, because you asked a question. Take it or leave it

I haven't seen too much of any of this, what you describe, but I'm sure it happens. Part of it is perception: a Christian tries to display a reasonable response to a question, or statement, and is then accused of being closed-minded, or worse. Part of it is the desire to stand up for what we believe. Would you want your beliefs put down or ridiculed? Neither do we. There were times when Jesus Himself turned the other cheek, but there were also times when He stood up and told it like it was. He wasn't out to make friends but disciples.
Are we our own worst enemy? Absolutely. We still fall short of God's perfect standard, but we rejoice in that our sins are forgiven. The unbelievers would still find something to say about believers even if we were sinless--we aren't and never will be until we reach Heaven--and look what happened to our Lord? One pastor said. "If you look for justice in this life, consider what happened to the Lord Jesus Christ".
Finally, as far as being dismissive, wouldn't that apply to those who refuse to listen to our responses, too? Seems to me a lot of people make assertions, expecting someone to listen, then slam the door on any chance to dialog. Fair is fair and right is right, and courtesy counts both ways.

1Sa 2:3 "Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the LORD [is] the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed.
its a shame you dont get the point.thats your fault.
just take that self righteous finger and point it at yourself with the same critical examination you have given me.
im happy to help anyone increase their faith,if im asked, but honestly i could care less about going around converting people who arent interested,or who have animosity towards christians for wanting to help the human race.your just another example of whats wrong with our society today.when being a christian somehow has become a bad thing.
its a shame.

As a Christian I have been embarrassed by some of the questions and answers given by Christan. The questions/or answers were rude and hateful. However many of those who are not Christan or may believe in no higher power are just as rude, arrogant, and dismissive as those miss guided Christians are.

Generalizing by either faction will get none of us anywhere fast. Some christians are like what you describe, but certainly not all.
I will admit on here it seems a majority are though.
