Okay what I have noticed is that a lot of the time people post questions that seem pointless. Everyone believes in what they want and if we just accept that, there would be a lot less arguing. Look, If you're an athiest, fine, if you're a Christian, thats fine too but if we stopped debating on homosexuals and who is or isn't open-minded or who is right or wrong. maybe we could get some real questions answered and learn from one another. You can't prove either side which is why its considered a BELIEF. This is a really difficult topic to discuss in the first place and we really should be considerate of each other's feelings and beliefs. Does anyone else at least slightly agree with me?

Why is it so difficult for some non-Catholics to realize that the advanced theology, doctrines, and practices of the Catholic church are indeed based on the teachings of Christ and the apostles, found both in oral and written form, and they simply reflect the practical application of those principles, to the the fullest extent possible, this side of heaven?

And isn't it time protestants stopped merely studying the bible and started to put much, much more of the what's in it to work in the world, building up the authentic Kingdom of God, always and everywhere, instead of remaining stuck in the past, in a state of denial, that depends more on denying facts, attempting to rewrite history, and railing against the Catholic church, than anything else?

It would also be nice if mainline protestantism could begin to work towards developing some type of standard, complete theology, to minimize the confusion that's reigning over so much of Christiandom, today.

What do you think?

Lets be honest here: if you're a regular on this forum, you've seen that very few Christians know the Bible. That's indisputable. Yet they obsess over homosexuality, which one would think to be an issue that doesn't concern them.

Why, in your opinion, do they do that?

Hypothetically speaking, if you had to chose another religion that emulated your values, morals and ethics that you currently have or believe, which religion would you pick?

Hypothetical Rules:
1) No religions related to Christianity
2) No religions that use the Bible as the "main book"

Both Islam and Christianity have a person (Muhammad and Jesus) who is an intermediary between God and the people.

Both have a history of intolerance of other religions (inquisitions, capital punishments for lack of faith, etc) and both religions make efforts to convert people of other faiths.

These two religions are different in this respect from Judaism, Buddhism, and the others where the people relate directly to their Divinity without an intermediary prophet or messiah, and are tolerant of other religions, and do not try to convert people or force them to believe.

What is this connection between Islam and Christianity? Do you think they were derived from the same source?

The two religions came into being in the same region of the world, and at, more or less, the same time (give or take a few hundred years).

do a lot of people here just need to lighten up? I realize that this section deals with serious topics, but honestly. Some of the answers are just insults, threats, and sarcasm. I'll admit, some of it's mine and some of it's hilarious. Am I the only one that thinks people need to lighten up a bit?

I use the term "Protestant" to refer to any Christian church not in communion with the Catholic Church or the Eastern Orthodox Church. I don't think it's offensive or anything.

However when I refer to, say, a non-denominational Christian church as "Protestant," some are offended, and I'll almost always be corrected by some who'll tell me it's "Christian," not "Protestant." Aren't all of the denominations "Christian," though?

Some say its GOD or Jesus Christ or Holy Spirit.

But i want to get this point clear. Hebrews chp 7 clearly explains who is M?

Hints:
Think about the Triune God - (have no beginning of days nor end of life.)

Priest of the Most High God... - (therefore not GOD the Father)

Like unto the Son of GOD.. (Jesus) - (therefore cannot be Jesus Christ)

-- THEN, who is Melchizedek?

Dont be carried away by someone saying. Rely everything based on the WORD OF GOD, The Bible in your hands.

I have referred everything from Hebrews chp 6,7,8 - Mainly chp 7...

God Bless

is it possible that you just misinterpret the actions of the Catholics because of your limited perspective?

have you ever pondered that other people might have other ways of understanding things from the way you understand things?

seriously, you really got me wondering. you want people like me to meddle since you want to convert non-believers, well, these types of questions popped up in my head since you keep on saying you are speaking of the truth. are you honestly telling the truth concerning the Catholics?

The only one I know of is that some people think that Christians worship saints. Care to add to that? It's for a project, though it's something that I am curious about as well. :]

If your 10 year old child came to you and confessed they were gay (or that they liked persons of the same sex)? Would you believe that people are born gay? Remember, you have raised them and tried to instill in them Christian values and yet at 10, they have said they are gay. Do you think your thoughts on gay people would change?
