If you simply mean a person with a heart beat, than life begins at birth, but this doesn't necessarily make an intelligent human being. Being born is but the first step in attaining life and understanding it through experiences. I do think though, that since conception will create life, it is a part ot the bigger scheme. So yes, life will begin at conception, but for the children, the reality of it will not strike them until they are about three, when they can actually still remember some experiences.

Sperm and egg are both living tissue before they meet. But just because some cells come together and start furiously multiplying, that doesn't make them sentient. There is a point in the process of a developing human where the brain comes "online" and that is when we should consider a fetus a person.

I don't remember anything about being in conception so I don't consider myself alive until birth. But if someone kills an unborn baby or something like that - I think it's murder.
Try to think back before you were born. Nothing right? Sometimes I think that's what death must be like.

No. Life began long before conception. Conception is just a continuation of that process.

I honestly don't know so I don't venture to make an opinion. I do remember though that when I was pregnant with my first child I felt like the character from the movie Alien. "This thing is growing inside of me....YUCK". Imagine how I felt when I found out I had man parts inside me.
Sorry for the rant. You just took me down memory lane.

Life begins at first breath.
Otherwise we would have funerals for miscarriages that occur two weeks after conception.
But, I like the "until you have to pay taxes". Nice.

So people aren't alive till they get a job according to your definition. Interesting... Deciding when life begans is a tricky subject and there is little consistency when it is done by legal entities. Who knows?
