The Protestant churches separated from the Catholic Church. Many non-denominational sects did not separate from the Catholic Church but they separated from Protestant Churches. It is sort of like Protestant movements within the Protestant denominations. So maybe they do not want to be identified with mainline Protestant churches. Some of these non-denominational sects consider even the members of mainstream Protestant churches as unsaved or non-Christians.
To Tuberoot,
Jesus said that the gates of hell will not prevail against the Church. Your wishfull thinking will not become reality.

I can understand the term 'Protestant' not being used at times. I prefer 'Reformed'. As in reform into the likeness of the believers before the Roman Catholic Church. Sometimes using the word 'Protestant' shows that there was a time where it was necessary to 'protest' the activities of the Roman Catholic Church. It's as if the Roman Catholic Church was that powerful, that meaningful. But they are not that meaningful now to me.
So I prefer to be called 'Reformed', because the Roman Catholic Church will one day be a waste and a desolation, God will see to it.

Because the Lutherans and Anglicans rebelled(along with many others) against the catholic Church. Hundreds of years later we,are not protesting but following God and the Bible instead of man made traditions of the catholics.

because those people have had to deal with a lot of catholics who use protestant demeaningly.
you do not fail by the way, as you successfully recognized the difference between the orthodox and catholic church.

u could tutor why u think of devil is real non-denom individuals like the belief of simplicity and fundamentals. they think of that in case you strip away each and all of the issues you will get to God. i think of they oversimplify, yet it somewhat is a protracted way from the fantasy of being controlled with the help of the grate D-C-ver. over the years, some somewhat great thinkers have wrestled in writing with various the age-previous heavy questions. We call the loose selection of those writings "the Church Fathers." The non-denoms decrease cost this sequence as unimportant. Like a good number of people, they get an extremely reliable concept and then bypass over the coolest with it. i admire the way individuals with not something to assert in basic terms save repeating the drained cliches, consisting of "God would not exist" -- an appealing hypothesis for which there is not any info by any skill, different than for the actuality that the author of the theorem could like it to be real. Wishing God to not exist would not make God non-existent. and additionally, the guy who tells us to get off our intense horse, yet has not something truthfully to assert in desire of regardless of his place may well be. it somewhat is not even achievable to infer what he thinks from the poverty of writing he provides us.

They must be closet catholics- any body that studies church history from 1300-1560ad and doesn't agree with the protestant reformation is in bed with the antichrist in my opinion.

i don't know the answer to your question but on a similar note, that may contribute; i have noticed that as well, and it led me to find out that many, often those that attend mega-churches are un-familiar with the actual defenitions of terms like protestant, methodist, evangelical...and members of such churches are often confused when i ask them what denomination their church practices based on. apparently its popular to reject such labels with in churches now. sometimes intentionally (and maybe with noble intentions) and sometimes just out of ignorance.

Because a non denominational church is wat is sais - not affiliated with any denomination.
Its the same as calling a southerner a yankee - slap him rather than insult him in such a way!
