I mean, Luther died to make protestants different from the RCC.

Now, they are virtually the same. Protestants eventually went to Sunday worship and picked up Easter and Christmas, as the RCC prescribed.

Other than "how the holy ghost moves, dude!"

is there any real difference?

Should "protest-ants" be now called "accept-ants" ???

Acceptants! They have been conquered by the Pope, not Messiah.

Besides, the RCC is also a State: Vatican City Church-State, with embassy's (nunciatures) on every shore. Any individual or building (man-made temple) incorporated into the state (attorneys) anywhere on the planet is subject to her. And examining their behavior, as you so eloquently pointed out, is evidence of the allegiance.

It appears, beyond any doubt, that the RCCS is nothing but a mere counterfeit and adversary to Messiah's true Government, the Kingdom of YHWH. Prophetically, she is Mystery Babylon, the great prostitute of Revelation 17 and 18 with whom the sovereigns of the earth have committed whoring, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication, her false doctrines.

I know scores of generous and kind Roman people, and fortunately, perhaps due to the recent $660 million payout to yet more molested boys, many of them are leaving that system and beginning to READ their Bibles independently. Yes, many of them are still visiting the Sunday buildings under a different moniker, but at least their young sons will be at less risk from the perverts that make up that church-state.

As the Scripture commands: Come out of her, my people! Revelation 18:4-5

Peace.

It is my understanding that Pope John Paul summoned the Lutheran Primate and told him that the Catholic Church now agrees with all the points in Luther's letter that he nailed to the church door, way back when. So in effect there no longer is any disagreement as to salvation by faith between the
Protestants and the Catholics. There will always be minor disagreements here and there, but the reason for the Protestation basically no longer exists.
In the early 1900's a number a churches had a conference and decided to agree on certain fundamentals that mark the Christian Church at large.
1. Absolute Deity of Christ
2. The Virgin Birth of Christ.
3. Inerrancy of Scipture(the Bible)
4. The "Blood Atonement" for salvation
5. The Resurrection
To believe these main points makes a fundamentalist Christian which of course both Catholic and Lutherans do.
As well as most Christians on the planet.

Are you talking about difference in theological beliefs? There are many:

Catholics- you must be baptised before you can be saved
Protestant- Baptism is an outward sign of faith performed after one is saved.

Catholics- The communion bread and wine literally become the body of Christ when they eat it.
Protestant- the bread and wine/juice are symbolic of the last supper meal and done in rememberance of Christ.

Catholics- Good works and living according to God's commands can get you into heaven, even if you don't believe in Jesus.
Protestant- belief in Jesus and repentance of sins is the only way to heaven.

Catholic- the miracles performed by Jesus are symbolic of God's power and ability.
Protestant- the miracles performed by Jesus are literal occurances.

Catholic- Mary, the mother of Jesus, was a holy woman and worthy of worship.
Protestant- Mary was a special woman, chosen by God to perform a very special role, but not holy or worthy of worship.

These are a few. There are many others. I suggest you do an internet search on differences between Catholics and Protestants for a more complete list.

Catholics believe in the infallibility of the pope when he speaks "from the throne" or concerning matters of church doctrine as the bishop of rome.
Catholics revere Mary in a way that protestants would not and could not.
Many protestants believe in the idea of once saved always saved.
Some protestant denominations allow female pastors, the RCC does not, nor does it allow its pastors (priests) to marry.
