Before I logged onto Yahoo Answers, I found most of the people I met were believers of sorts. Most reckoned Jesus was a good guy and that we were all bound for Heaven.
In all my years, (and I'm in my 50s now), I never met ANYONE who believed the stuff about Hell and Creation. I know a lot of people from the USA use this site. Do a lot of you believe this stuff?

No, hell is a concept used to manipulate and control people into following a certain religious ideology.

I believe in Creation, of course we are all here. Do I take the bible in the old testament word for word. No, these are stories that have been adapted for the people of the time to comprehend. I mean 70 years ago your great grandparents would never have believed you could drive a car while talking on the phone drinking coffee the flavor of candy canes and eating a burger made out of soy.
I believe in Heaven. I have worked along side so many who have lost there loved ones and heard so many stories of seeing the light, their loved ones etc. I have great faith and have been blessed with talents to help these people. Do I believe we will all go to a great city of gold and mansions. Probably not, I feel that something of this nature would mean nothing to me in the next life. I mean, I live simply and really would not care to have those things now.
I also am Catholic and believe in purgatory. I truly feel most souls need time to heal. I would not want to bring my past transgressions for my deceased loved ones to dwell and look upon in heaven. I would want to be the best soul I can be so to speak.
As for hell, I would hope there would be few there. I pray for the dead and hope they can go home to God. However, we as souls make choices in this world everyday. We make mistakes. I am sure there are many souls who would still deny the Lord even in death. Sadly. But who am I to guess, just me, not really worthy even to write about what I truly feel about these things.

It's a pleasure to meet you! There, now you can say that you've met someone who DOES BELIEVE in a literal Hell (separation from God for eternity) as well as Creation as outlined in Genesis.
I must say that your question/comment surprised me a bit--I'm surprised that by 50 you hadn't met at least one person who believed in both. Perhaps you've met them but haven't had conversations about the topic at hand.

There are people from ALLOver the world on here... OF COURSE you will find people on here [and everywhere else] that believe in Hell.
I am SHOCKED that a 50 yr.old person has NEVER met anyone that believed in either creation or Hell.... ???

I believe hell is a real place because Jesus talked more about hell than about heaven. Heaven is offered to everyone.

No. But you're going to get a lot of answers about how Hell isn't actually the eternal torment that the Bible speaks about. It is actually the grave, Sheol...being dead and buried.
Whatever...what you SHOULD ask next time is: "How many of you believe in eternal torment as a final destination for those that don't accept Jesus' gift of salvation." *wankwank*
Sorry...Christians love to sidestep these questions. They love showing off their knowledge and they also get to avoid any sort of intellectual debate...you know...that thing that they fear most and that they always lose when they oppose anybody of even meager intelligence.

No. Like most of the Christians on earth, I don't believe in a literal creation, and I do not believe in the eternal fires of hell.

well this is just me i believe that all religions have a connection with god. Who are as mere humans to say one "human" being is better than another? Is Mohamed a better man than jesus? are you "worthy" of saying you as a person are better than anyone because you believe you are a better than me? are you better so much better? are you? ------------------------- for me i believe humans make heaven or hell on earth has nothing to do with god at all

Hell? Its a Christian creation... not being christian I believe in none of it. What god could create a being and then punish them so?
