I'm having some strange experiences with shadow people. I wondered if anybody else believed that they existed, and thus that i'm not crazy. I'm not sure if they actually are shadow people, but they are the closest to what i've witnessed.

How do you determine what is truth?

I like to follow the model of the Bereans in Acts 17:10-11 by "searched(ing)ing the scriptures daily" to see if the things I am told are true.

Same rules as before- no bashing, no comments refuting the posts of others- although asking for clarification is OK. This is just to see how we form opinions and make decisions-not to determine who is right or wrong.

So can God create a rock so heavy that even he cannot lift it?

If he can, then the rock is unliftable, limiting God's power.

But if he cannot, then he is still not omnipotent.

I have seen some debate here about whether or not the soul is immortal. I know in Ezekiel it says that the soul that sins shall die. but couldn't this be referring to the second death spoken of in Revelation? A death that is actually eternity in Hell? If your soul ceases to exist at death why are we told to preserve it blameless until Jesus comes?

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

but DOESN'T read your suspicious Q's and A's here on R&S? ... and by "suspicious" I mean anything that mentions Jews, Muslims, Israel, Iraq, Afganistan, Packistan, terrorism, 911, George Bush, Christianity, or Democrats.

Wasn't it Yahoo that turned over e-mail and IP addresses to China - which got several anti-Communist dissidents arrested?

... and how long will this question stay up, I wonder?

A Mormon boy, who I really like, has asked me out. I'm not Christian of any sort, and he knows this. I really would like to go out with him, but I don't want to, if it is considered bad by his community. I wouldn't want to bring him down at all--I'd be happy being his friend and have him date a Mormon girl if it's easier for him. I'm never going to convert...something he also knows.

wouldn't it be to our benefit, as atheists, to allow the discussion of intelligent design to at least be brought up in public schools? i'm not saying it should be taught as an equally supported scientific theory, but more as a hypothesis. i believe the more it is brought up in public schools, and the more it is discussed, the more people will realize it's impossible to scientifically support and thus shouldn't be labeled a scientific theory, as people are trying to convince students. we know it's bogus. why not allow it to be subjected to the same scrutiny as every other hypothesis in science that became theory and see if it can stand up to the same rigorous testing?

Since the beginning of mankind, we have (depending on where) slaughtered and killed, worshipped and sacrificed for something we had and have no true proof or idea about. We only believe out of fear, that if we don't believe in anything something bad will happen to us after death. Why can't more of us not believe in religion at all, to save lives and spirits. What is a "sin" in one religion is praised in another. Doesn't that alone prove religion is just a hoax? If there were one single religion in the world, maybe, maybe I would believe in it, but there is not. Why can't this nonense end? We need to stop believing in arcs and burning bushes. If someone you know now, came in your house and told you they spoke with a burning bush, you would have them commited. Back then, with less understanding and intelligence, it was acceptable. If there is a God, wouldn't it rather have you question it your entire life instead of lying to yourself and others based on a belief you truly dont know about

It's bad enough people keep saying that they won't have all the things here on Earth and continue to enjoy doing them, but that they will just be in a big room with God, keep staying on knees and worshipping and serving Him for ever and ever like some horrifying Mass that's nonstop. Going to church is boring. Mass is boring. It's when you leave Mass that you are excited about finally going somewhere and doing some activity. Only problem is, you can't never get up and go do your own thing there but have to just stay there like a viking has to stay in his seat on the ship and keep moving that oar. If Heaven can't be as free as the world is right now and I can't AT LEAST enjoy what I can do right now, then Heaven will suck in my opinion.

creationism vs. evolution, the inerrancy of the bible, and how many gay people are going to burn in hell...

instead of the real Christian purpose: to carry on the radical revolution Jesus started by saying "I give you this one command: Love one another as I have loved you"?

Using our own pride to keep us from doing the REAL work of God: wouldn't that be the devil's greatest trick?

"Only when we can love hell will we find heaven."-- Unknown source

"When you are able to contain both the light and dark together, that is a very enlightening state. It means that you no longer have to choose one experience over another. You do not have to choose love OR hate, blame OR forgiveness, sadness OR joy, anger OR openheartedness. You are no longer polarized; no particular feeling boxes you in and keeps you from the light of true self. You then have access to the full range of human experiences you came into this life to embrace."-- Martia Nelson

Your kind and respectful thoughts, please?
