Using our own inherent laziness to get us to settle for pseudoChristianity, such as some fundamentalist doctrines, instead of striving for Jesus's love of all people: I do indeed think that is the greatest coup of evil.
That way was spend all our lives arguing about stoopid stuff like the validity of evolution instead of working in the world to make it a more loving and God-filled place.

Jesus message also included "Repent, for the kingdom of Heaven is at hand". As far as loving one another, he was talking to his disciples about how they were to behave towards each other, he wasn't saying "just pretend everybody is a-okay, don't ever tell anyone their wrong, and try not to rock the boat too much", in fact, his commission to his apostles was to "go and preach the gospel". Now, if you want to believe that the bible is errant, go ahead, but then, how can you even be sure that Jesus said the things you actually want to pay attention to?

Awesome!! WhooHoo!! I so totally agree with you. All this agruing between churches over the "small" stuff keeps us from following God's two greatest commands :Love the Lord with all heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength; and love your neighbour as yourself. We get so wrapped up over these trivialities, that we forget (or become blind) to doing God's work. If only more people could realise this, it's something we need to urgently change within all churches!

I think you are on to something.
Swift in Gullivers Travels writes about a dispute between 2 kingdoms over which end of the egg to crack. There were big-endians and little-endians. This was a parody of the Protestant and Catholic wars.

satan's real triumph would be to deceive as many as he can, and take their souls to hell.
That is his sole purpose. He knows he's going to lose in the end. he wants to take as many with him as he can. what else has he got to work for? he hates Christians because he hates Christ. We are suppose to find the lost souls, and bring them to Christ. And tell the WHOLE Gospel, not just part of it.
