at religious schools?

Obviously, these are the two parts of modern science that are most problematic from the standpoint of Biblical doctrine. But we seem to be getting a lot of naif arguments here in R&S that both of these scientific theories have been falsified. These two theories seem to be paired or even unified into a single idea in the minds of some R&S posters, whereas in the scientific world, they are parts of two different scientific disciplines---there is essentially no one who works on both theories.

As an astronomer, it's a bit of a nasty surprise to see the Big Bang theory being given the Scopes Trial treatment. I mean, do you people realize that you can actually see the Big Bang, happening right now, with telescopes? The fundamental observation of the Big Bang theory is that the Universe was hotter and denser in the past. Given the finite speed of light, this past history can be seen directly---the Universe actually was hot and dense billions of years ago.

He never married, lived in a monastery and was celibate.

How right, or wrong, is that?

What causes most Christians, which I believe in God myself and am also gay, to judge people like myself. Isnt that being a bit foolish when the bible says that you should not judge, therefore if you are judging me and being gay acctually is a SIN then you are just as bad as me right? I am open to any explanations.

I am a Christian and I love God very much. I'm just wondering how come some don't believe. Be honest, I'm open to opinions.

I cannot help but notice when ex-JW answer questions on here that are accurate information, they receive thumb's down. That would lead others to believe the information is false. Do you not realize that in doing this, you not only are guilty of "bearing false witness" but you are also making your organization look bad. I would like to know why some of you do this. I understand clarifying false information, but when the answers are correct, why do you label it as false, even just by giving a thumb's down? Do you not see how many on this forum see what is being done and how this makes you look? Why not simply ignore answers by ex-JW if it was correct information instead of trying to make it appear as untruthful.

When someone asks "Why are you atheist?" most of us respond that it's the lack of evidence.

There is a complete lack of evidence of alien life existing, but I still maintain that it's possible.

Why are many of us atheistic toward God but agnostic toward other claims? Is it more than just a lack of evidence?

Wouldn't it be safer to believe in Ptah?

Jesus said in the end of days, there would be signs in the heavens signaling his return. Do you think the Comet Holmes is one of them? After all, it basically exploded and is increasing in brightness and now it's coma has grown lager than the Sun itself. Scientist have now declared it the "largest single object in the solar system." What do you think?

Let's pretend that you died without asking Jesus to come into your heart today. And you end up in hell because God word is true. What I want to know is what’s the positive side to believe in Evolution? As far as I can tell nothing you have no purpose for life. If the bible is true and you died then much more is at stake than you realize. Your soul is doomed to hell for eternity. Take into account your life are you really going to place your life in the hands of men’s theories or are you going to trust in God. It's the most important answer you will ever make.

Six months ago I knew I didn't believe in God but I still kept saying I did, even in my posts on here. I would post questions about things that didn't make sense to me regarding Christianity, but I'd always add the little disclaimer, "I still believe in God, but..."

It was very difficult for me to admit to myself that I didn't believe. I had a lingering, irrational fear that the Christians might be right and that I was committing the worst sin ever for saying I didn't believe.

Here we are, six months later, and I feel God not existing is incredibly obvious. I feel stronger emotionally and healthier mentally than I have ever felt in my life.

Just wondering if any of you had a similar experience.

Thanks!

The pregnancy of Coatlicue, the maternal Earth deity, made her other children embarrassed, including her oldest daughter, Coyolxauhqui. As she swept the temple, a few hummingbird feathers fell into her bosom. Coatlicue’s fetus, Huitzilopochtli, sprang from her womb in full war armor and killed Coyolxauhqui, along with her 400 brothers and sisters. He cut off her limbs, then tossed her head into the sky where it became the moon, so that his mother would be comforted in seeing her daughter in the sky every night.

"Kalama Sutta"
- Do not believe in anything just because you have heard it.
- Do not believe in traditions just because they have been handed down for many generations.
- Do not believe in anything just because it is spoken and rumoured by many.
- Do not believe in anything just because it is found written in your religious books.
- Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conductive to the good and benefit of one and all then accept it and/or live up to it.
