Do you think Protestants on yahoo answers are getting the hint yet that they will have to come up with better one-liners in attempts to sway Catholics out of the original Christian faith?

"are you saved?" just isn't working anymore

Atheist Consiglieri without the Catholic Church supporting science chances are humanity would not have progressed as far as it has in that field.

you need to read the book How the Catholic Church built Western Civilization by prof E. Wood

Sprite you may claim not to be Protestant but the Jehovah Witnesses organization is a pseudo-Protestant sect. Charles T Russell cam out of the Adventist movement of the mid 19th century you have no history or apostolic connection back to Christ to ever claim any of the early titles of Christianity ie. the Way, Katholikos etc etc...
This question is in the right place and you'll have to deal with your lack of authenticity some day as a post-reformation sect.

Raven I see your point isn't it ironic that I posted this question moments after that other misrepresenting post. BTW I've reported Ted_r for not asking a question and for slandering spam and harassment I suggest you do the same.
Looks like that handle was created today so I'm sure this has happened before for that person.

St.Preachy Q. ever read the letter of Clement I of Rome to the Church in Corinith? written circa 90AD.
You can argue against the title bishop all you want but I will argue that the authority and functions of this leadership structure was there from the beginning of Christianity.

St. Preachy why am I under the preception you believe Catholics think the Church started in Rome? The Church has never claimed this nor does it claim Peter started the diocese or local following in Rome. explain your response regarding the bishop of Rome.

Actually, they seem to have moved on from the one liners and are now taking up massive amounts of space -- typing paragraph after paragraph of misconceptions and ignorance.

I just read a question about why Catholics worship Mary and the Pope (huge waste of time, I know!)...and the question itself seemed to never end!!

However, after reading it from beginning to end, I was thoroughly convinced that this person is an extremely uneducated idiot. I think one thing which keeps people strong in their convictions of the Catholic faith is reading trash like this -- and realizing that protestantism is full of clueless individuals who willingly spread falsehoods in order to gain converts.

Honestly, I don't think any of the anti-Catholic Protestants here care two nickels about the salvation of any Roman Catholic Christian. Given the vitriol they so readily spew at us, I'm sure they would cheerfully watch us rot in Hell, which they are so certain we will. This, of course, begs the question about the sincerity of their own Christian faith, given Christ's instruction that we are to love one another.

I think the purpose of all the "one-liners" is rather to reassure themselves that their splintered churches have a better idea about what Christianity is supposed to be than the Church that has stood faithfully by the teachings of Christ and the Apostles for 2000 years. If those reassurances ring a little hollow... well, perhaps it's because they are.

That said, Protestant Christians are our brothers and sisters in Christ. I bear them no ill will, even the ones who openly hate the Catholic Church. It is my sincere, if naive, hope that more and more of them will learn about the *real* Catholic Church, not the imaginary construct that their ministers want them to think the Catholic Church is. I know many Protestants are perfectly polite and tolerant of the RCC - this is not directed at them. There is a very vocal minority (at least, I hope it's a minority) that engages in the behavior you describe. It is this minority about which I speak.

How's this for a one liner? There was no singular bishop of Rome until the middle of the second century, and that one bishop didn't wield universal power until the sixth or seventh century. It was a political development and nothing more. I am aware that the early Christians said that the bishop sat in Peter's chair, but they said that about all the bishops so it proves nothing. Now, I have no personal beef with Catholics, but your claim of originality is historically inaccurate.

Edit: Yes I have read it, and at no point does Clement claim any singular authority for himself. In fact, he indicates that the letter, although written by him personally, is from a plurality of people. "WE consider that WE have been somewhat tardy in giving heed to the matters of dispute that have arisen among you". The fact is that a monarchical episcopate was still a century and a half away, which means there was no pope, in the modern sense of things. My point is not to suggest that you think the church started in Rome, I know better than that. My point is that the central piece of your authority structure did not even exist until much, much later. No one bishop had anywhere near the kind of power that the modern pontif has, until the early 7th century, it is a fact of history. In fact, the first bishop of Rome to be recognized as universal bishop over the whole church was Boniface III, and that by order of Emperor Phocas. It was clearly a political move. How do manage to ignore that sort of thing?

It is funny to me that I am getting thumbs down. I haven't said anything untrue, nor have I insulted any Catholics. I see that Protestants aren't the only people capable of getting their undies in a bunch.

The stupidity of it particularly is they are stressful the existence of a prepare that exchange into impossible to exist interior the 1st place. there have been no bibles carried to church through fact... properly, there exchange into no bible! The NT did no longer exchange into canon till 4 hundred advert, and to diminish back it up all a thank you to the time of the apostles, considered one of first letters of the NT that would finally be called inspired (thesselonians?) wasn't even written till approximately two decades after Christ's death. with out written scritpure, how did the Church prepare the be conscious throughout the time of those first 2 an prolonged time? If the bible is the only source of Christian actuality and faith, how did the Church stay to tell the story all those centuries with out inspired canon? Protestants could desire to stop rewriting history and get with this equipment.

Accepting one aspect of Christ (resurrection) and disregard his life and death leaves a great gap,a gulf between complete contemplation and understanding of his mission, hence salvation and editorial christians.

This complete knowledge is simply not infused by reading scripture, but rather what is taught by the Church inspired by the Holy Paraclete which is the soul of the Catholic Church.

Many want to partake in His merits (resurrection;glory;salvation),

Very few want His conditions
(carry your cross;penance;die that you may live)

I am not a catholic nor a protestant nor am I a member of Christendom, I am appalled at this question because it reeks.
These folks in this forum are seeking wisdom. Satan is here as well. Leave these type questions to the heathen and to the opposer. Shepherd the flock of God in your care, not under compulsion, but willingly; neither for love of dishonest gain, but eagerly; neither as lording it over those who are God’s inheritance, but becoming examples to the flock

It is my hope that one day, Catholics and Protestants will focus all their attention on one another, and let the rest of the world focus on scientific progress.

It is only a dream I know, but think of all the wonderful things that would result, especially after the CathoProd wars were over and peace was declared.

Catholics are not the original Christian faith It was known as "the Way" and was practiced many years in houses and public places before the Catholic Church was ever started.

This is not a denomination and it predates the Catholic Church so it is not protestant either.

yes.

but I honestly don't think fundamentalist protestants have the capacity to get any hint. they buried their heads so deep in the sand already. I must say they are hopeless.

LOL...I think that the majority of them (on here) prefer to cling to their lies and misconceptions because it's more comfortable for them. They actually enjoy telling us what we believe and how we worship, etc etc etc. if they didn't have us to hate and condemn, their already small minds would implode.
