Yes, with the exception of those who hide behind it.

As a religion, no...as a personal philosophy, yes. The problem with religion is the influence of flawed human beings...whenever a person turns to another human being (or group of human beings) for advice about what it means to be a Christian, they open themselves up to the possibility of deception by those who would use religion to control the behavior of others. In my experience, most religions incorporate some element of hate (evil) because the people that founded the religion carried that hate in their hearts. I'm not even suggesting deliberate deception (though that certainly happens)...just the natural tendency of people to seek protection in a specific set of rules (laws) and to feel threatened by anyone that opposes those rules.

All religions have been used in the past as an excuse to proceed " conscience free " political issues. They are still doing this today.
It is not only the Christian religions, but all religions including the non Christian ones. People are normally selfish. And will use anything to " prove their point."
That is why, it is important to actually read and study the bible. And not take any minister's or leader's word for anything.

i think of that greater killing and destruction has been performed interior the call of religion than the different reason. human beings make the main others faith to rationalize hurtful acts. Extremists in all religions are very risky. faith exchange into geared up on good innovations and thoughts yet a technique or the different has became into an excuse to be recommend to a minimum of one yet another. no longer all are like this and maximum stay good "christian" lives although this is totally diverse now.

Hey Kal - not all hate is evil
I hate violence and I hate needless suffering - hating those doesn't make me evil. Its a pity more people don't hate violence then maybe this world would be a little easier to live in.
As a Christian I am called to be tolerant, loving, compassionate, merciful and generous, but always honouring to my God and Saviour. I don't always get it right though cos I am human.
Anyone who says go burn someone for what they believe or kill someone who disagrees with you cannot claim to be heirs of the Kingdom of God.
Those who would kill in His Name are most certainly evil

It depends on the Christian. Some use it to excuse violent behavior against others. Some use it as a tool to increase their capacity to love & help others.

It is, but of course there are whacko's like the Phelp's who give all christianity a bad name. Just like muslims have to take the heat for fanatical terrorists, we get blamed for our whacko's too. Of course, once upon a time, the catholic church tried to rule the world, hence the inquisition and crusades, but luckily they do not have that type of power anymore.

For Christianity to BE Christianity (ie believing and adhering to the teachings of Jesus Christ), it must be:
1. EXTREMELY Intolerant (Jesus said "I am the ONLY way to the Father. Any one trying to get in by any other means will be treated as a thief and a robber and be cast into outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.").
2. Non-violent (Jesus said "I came that you may have life, and that in abundance" and "Whom the Son sets free shall be free indeed" and "God so loved this world that He gave His only begotten Son, that ANY body who puts their trust in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life." - Jesus went to the violent cross so that we can learn to live at peace with all people - "As much as lieth in you, live in peace with all men." and "If your enemy is hungry, give him something to eat. If he is thirsty, give him something to drink.", et cetera.).
3. Peaceful (Jesus said "Peace I leave with you, MY peace I give to you. Not as the world gives." and again "As much as lieth in you, live in peace with all men." )
