I was recently told that one bit of evidence for the reality of original sin was that children never have to be taught to lie or to be cruel to their classmates, that it seems to simply come naturally to them.

Even though I don't buy into this, it did make me wonder about children's motivations. Obviously, at some point we all LEARN that we can tell a lie and avoid punishment. However, I was wondering if anyone had actually done any studies, or can remember from personal experience, why kids make fun of each other, call names, etc?

As we get older and become adults, it probably stems from insecurity, but does insecurity begin that early? Any thoughts/ideas welcome.

Let us suppose that a Pope suddenly decides to become Orthodox and to bring all the Catholics to Orthodoxy. With that outward change would even one of the millions of Catholics really become Orthodox? And even if they all had the best disposition to memorize and believe all the doctrines of Orthodoxy, they would not be able to take even one step towards her, because Orthodoxy is not only a system of doctrines or a series of customs, but something much deeper and substantial. It is a whole orientation of life and thought. Orthodoxy is a spirit, the spirit of Tradition, which cannot be acquired from books but is transmitted from the living to the living, from father to son, mother to daughter, brother to brother, friend to friend, priest to priest, monk to monk, from spiritual father to spiritual child, «not by means of ink and paper, but from mouth to mouth», from soul to soul. And all this within the life of the Holy Mysteries of the Church, within the atmosphere of the Holy Spirit, with the passing of time, little by little, with the slow development of an organism…

I mean no disrespect to Judaism. I have some very good friends that are Jewish.

It's just that this notion of Jesus being Jewish is just ludicrous. Had he been a Jewish guy, wouldn't his last name have been Jesus Jew instead of Jesus Christ? Obviously Jesus was a Christian. Only a naive liberal can get that basic fact confused.

Some say that Jesus is not the messiah because Jeconiah, an ancestor of Jesus was "cursed". Let's see what this "curse" was...

Jeremiah 22:30 - "This is what the LORD says: 'Record this

man as if childless, a man who will not prosper in his

lifetime, for none of his offspring will prosper, none

will sit on the throne of David or rule anymore in

Judah.'"

The verse is absolutely correct, which is why Jesus never

sat upon a throne in Judah. That doesn't mean he cannot be

king "ANYWHERE ELSE"! (heaven)

Selecting "none of his offspring will prosper" from the

rest of the verse is intellectual dishonesty, as there is

no period after that phrase. In other words, the phrase is

not meant to stand alone, rather it means that none of his

offspring will prosper as kings in Judah.

For those who say that Jesus is not the messiah because

one of the genealogies says he is son of Nathan and not of

Solomon, they are wrong because the genealogies in Matthew

and the one in Luke both show Shealtiel and Zerubbabel. In

other words, shealtiel and zerubababel have the "blood" of

Solomon, and so can trace Jesus back to Solomon no matter

what genealogy you choose.

Genealogies found in:
Matthew 1:1-16 Luke 3:23-38

there are some people would believe that God healed people in the Bible days but He no longer does. Some say that God "puts" sickness on people. I know God to be a healer. But what do YOU believe?
