Somethin's fishy, ain't it?
I think, in my humble opinion, that 'God' is misrepresented.
I don't believe in the biblical 'God'... because the stories in the bible doesn't 'add up'. But I do believe there is an infinite intelligence which may or may not have 'created' the universe.
But what do I know? I'm just a humble mortal.

The truth is, God isn't necessarily all knowing. No where in the Bible does it say he is. It only implies it. But, no one Biblical story can prove this. However, he is all powerful.
The money goes to church needs. Like new prayer books or funds for free sunday school, whatever.

The money isn't for God but for his people. We help God do his will and we can't do somethings without money. Plus giving money is a way to help others which i think is also part of gods will.

It's not about Him needing anything, I tithe & give offerings out of obedience to God's Word & He blesses me. My obedience allows Him an entrance into my finances so that He can work things out on my behalf.
EDIT: What does God being all knowing have to do with money, anyway.

there are some crooks who teach falsly about giving. The truth is, all of your money is God's, and you will be held accountable for how you used it. The bible demands 10% of your increase to go to the store house, God wants you to willingly give to missions of a good heart, and God also demands offerings. This is just him instructing you how to handle what he has trusted you with. He trusted you with it so that you can do what he wants you to do with it (obey him, have a part in his work, provide for you family, etc)

God doesn't need money, people do. God already owns everything, including all the money, and us. The reason we give to the church is to support the service of Him who made us. We give of the fruits of our labors in thanks and remembrance of Him, because He gave to us so generously of the fruits of His labors. As the Bible says, "We love, because He first loved us."

God doesn't need our money, the Church (the physical building and the less fortunate in it) do.

Once I heard from a rabbi, that donating money expresses love. But on the other hand, it is very hard for one who has no money to express his/her love.

I liked what caveman said. I could not have not said it better. God is not asking you for much. only 10 percent of what you make. to help the church and others. in return you get way more then you think. The bible can tell you more.
