I am not religious but am beginning to understand who god really is.

The ancients used to worship the sun as god and I believe this to be the god whom people worship today.

Think about it; 7 days in a week - 7 being god's number.

The day of worship for god is SUNday.

All the hymns we used to sing at school; morning has broken and so on...all about seeing the light.

The sun is our god because as the asker states; without the sun there would be no life, and god gave us light on the 1st day, to create life.

It also explains why devil worshippers, who are against god, fear the light - they like the dark.

Just tihnk about it all in your own mind and think hard about it all...we are still worshipping the sun as god. The papacy and churches etc are frauds...

We are all children of god because it is the sun that has given us life.

Sun worship ping was done before God sent any Prophet in the lands where they worshiped sun. Humans needed to believe on a creator. Since Sun support life on earth and
without sun life was not possible, so long time ago people in Iran thought Sun is god and started worship ping. God Almighty understands that they believed in Him but didn't know about Him, so God has written in Quran that He will forgive those sun worshipers who lived before religious Islam was introduced through Prophet Abraham in that area.
When Islam arrived majority of Iranians converted as Muslims except few Sun Worshipers who are still living though their number is slowly going down.

After truth about God has arrived, they do not have excuse for forgiveness from God. But some stubborn people always want to continue what their forefathers believed on without thinking for themselves.

I would worship the sun over some invisible (and illogical) God. At least I can see then sun and see the effects that the sun has on everyday life.

Worshiping the created rather than the creator would be disobedient, foolish, and clearly ignorant.
