I mean no disrespect to Judaism. I have some very good friends that are Jewish.

It's just that this notion of Jesus being Jewish is just ludicrous. Had he been a Jewish guy, wouldn't his last name have been Jesus Jew instead of Jesus Christ? Obviously Jesus was a Christian. Only a naive liberal can get that basic fact confused.

Huh?

Oh, I see. You're trying to be funny.

For a moment there...a very, very brief moment...I thought this was a serious question.

Jesus was born as a Jew, and followed Jewish traditions and so forth- you can find this in the Bible. EDIT: *(Ex. when Pilate asks Jesus if he is the King of the Jews. John 19:14) Christianity did not exist until Jesus was born, so I guess you could say he was the first Christian, but he did start out as a Jew. Christianity grew out of, or built on (however you'd like to say it) Judaism. Jewish people believe that Jesus was not the son of God - those (Jews) who believed that Jesus was the son of God became Christians.

Yeah this question is a bit strange-- but I do not want to name call, so I will not call you a negative name....

The most important thing to know WHO Jesus was and STILL IS! Is that He is GOD! (John 1:1, Revelation 1:8, Colossians 2:9, John 10)
He is the CHRIST, THE LORD, Alpha and Omega beginning and the end. There is no one like Him, he is GOD! God became flesh, born of a woman-- raised in a jewish family. (Don't forget that the jews are God's people and will someday be "grafted back in" as Romans 11 says)
But Jesus has always been God-- those who are "christians" are followers of Christ- because HE is our Savior! Christians are those who are saved in Jesus Christ.

Well besides the fact that he was a Jewish Rabi, he was circumcided, celebrated all jewish holidays, spoke Hebrew language, he also had a Jewish name which must had been Jesu Ben Jusef (Jesus son of Joseph) in the hebrew language.

There was no Christianism before Christ so he wasn't not a Christian.

I am not a naive liberal, I am probably an agnostic but you have not followed the logic through. Jesus was a Jew as his parents were Jewish. Indeed He became known as "King of the Jews".

Crudely put, Jesus started a breakaway sect of Judaism and people who followed him became known as Christians or followers of Christ.

That is a huge simplification, but think about it!

Allow me--Jesus was born a Jew & died a Jew. He was Jesus the Christ. Christ means Anointed One. The term Christian means Christ-follower, it was first used in Antioch to designate those who followed the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Jesus was not named Jesus, his name is Yeshua and he was jew. Man created the name jesus Christ, and named their religion after that. But his rightful name was Yeshua Hamashiak. Jesus is actually a greek name, that was not translated when the bible was from greek to english. Jesus is a greek word a form of the word Ioesis, which means hail zeus ( a pagan god ). But Yeshua or Issa in arabic was Jew. Keep in mind Jew is a race not a religion. Judaism is the religion.

Jesus was Jewish. The fact that you choose to disbelieve this does not alter one little bit the fact that he was a Jew.

EDIT TO EVIE

Christianity did not exist when Jesus was born.
Jesus died a practising Jew when the Romans crucified him.
Christianity was started primarily by Paul, who never even met Jesus.

The Christ bit is Greek, added by Paul, a greek/roman halfcast, with israelite ancestory..!!
