PLEASE NOTE: This is not implying that they Dubai deserves to be attacked. I'm only asking why do they escape the scrutiny of the same Islamic mullahs who cite America's opulence and unfairness.

The reason may simply be Dubai is Muslim and the starndards the anit Amrican Mulahs are using is Muslim= Good nonMuslim=evil. For example as poligamy is common the Mullah in question may see a western man having minage o tois as obsene and may condom it as a act of lustfulness
while he has goes home and has an orgy with his wives.
In both caes it would be an act of lustfulness but the real difernce is the Mullah uses the context to justify his actions. How many Mullahs don't condem the sexual practices of the Sultans raping their slaves while condeming a westerner's one night stand?
we also must ask how much money do Wahabi Mulahs get from the wealthy of Dubai? is this a case of don't bite the hand that feeds you.

This is a good question. Maybe because of the very strict security measures of the government there! Furthermore, what would they attack exactly? Ah, now the Dubai Metro is in construction.. Gosh!
Corrections on some funny comments:
a) Dubai doesn't fund terrorists. This claim is hilarious. One needs to know the rulers there to understand why it is such a funny claim.
b) Dubai export of oil is much lower than 2 million barrels a day. They don't live on oil export any more. It's business that they thrive on, and that's exactly why maintaining security is very important for the rulers, at any price.

Hello,
When terrorists pick their targets they want to hit places that are well known and always in the limelight in order to get their message across. Dubai, though wealthy is more backwater and low in profile.
I think the terrorists' message at this point in time isn't a question of concentrating on those that are wealthy and opulent but more, who is collaborating with the US by helping in Afghanistan and Iraq, allowing bases in Saudi, the Muslim holy land.

Why should being a symbol of opulence and excess be an excuse to be attacked.
All of the wars and conflicts in the world today are because of greed in one way or another... Get real.

I never knew that Islam had a thing against opulence. Isn't heaven painted to be a pretty opulent place? Dubai doesn't fund the military of the "Zionist Entity". There's no reason to attack it.

Because Dubai doesn't back unelected military dictators such as Musharraf, fund Iraqi attacks on Iran, back hated dictators like the Shah of Iran, or give Israel bombs and tanks with which they launch "pre-emptive" strikes on the surrounding countries. Islamic extremists don't hate us because of our opulence or excess, they hate us because we constantly meddle in their affairs in order to secure our own interests, namely OIL...

Because Dubai sells the US a couple million barrels of oil a day, the funds for which go to fund those Islamic extremists.

They are afraid, that's why. The punishment would be as medieval as they are....fingers removed, nails torn out, electric appliances to the testicles, up the urethra, and many many more tortures until they would ask for "death", they would not be given a court hearing with lawyers and publicity like in the Western world.
