Did they happen in the Middle East before Israel - with America's help in the form of political and financial support and armaments - dehumanized the palestinians?

Some theists wish to abandom science and replace it with creationism. How would they go about having experiments like in science class? You know, they have science fairs where all the kids do their little volcanos and stuff like that. What could be done with creation in the place of science? The bible says that faith the size of a mustard seed is enough to move a mountain. Could the application of faith be used to make cool stuff happen in such expeirments?

I know a lot of others see this similarity too...but do they?

Arrogance is what binds these two groups together. Do they not see this themselves?

How many ohters see this and find it hilarious that they both hate on each other...but are both so much alike?

Which wins, God's law or belief in Jesus?

The commandment doesn't matter, but let's say its necessary to steal regularly.

Sure I will admit that a Christian can drift the wrong direction and give in to temptation BUT they should soon realize that they are wrong and turn back to Jesus and ask for forgiveness. If you have the Spirit of Christ in you how can you WILLFULLY WANT TO TURN AWAY and commit sin without being regretful? I mean let's face it the whole term of "Backslidding" in the Christian mind is a loop hole for Christians to get involved in sin and still feel they are saved because as they say "once saved always saved". I say if you claim to be a Christian and believe you can sin and God won't mind then you might not be a Christian. What are your thoughts on this Backsliding thing?

It’s just that, quite often on this list, I read a lot of answers from Christians who seem to want to distance themselves from their fundamentalist fellow Christians. If the fundies are that abhorrent, shouldn’t we educate our children so that they don’t become a fundie? And the church with its unrivalled access to public money should support this, don’t you think?

If I pray for something, and truly mean what I'm praying, will God answer it?

My prayer does not unclude anything materialistic, I do not want someone braught back from the dead. My prayer is within reason of his doing.

I've been prayeing really hard and deep. I hope he answers it sooner rather than later, for my heart is aching for this prayer to be answered.

Someone once told to pray to Him as if He had already answered my prayer. For example, if I was prayeing for a red bike for christmas, I would pray in this manner: "Thank You Lord for my red bike". I've tried praying that way too and try to keep a positive attitude, but I so badly want my prayer answered now.

What can I do to keep my faith and not get impatient with God?

my daughter and I were just discussing earlier , people who walk about frowning
my daughter is like me , she loves hugs and laughs and talking and just being happy in general
she ( like me ) isnt popular with everyone ... because people think we are a little odd

I find it odd that happiness can be looked upon as odd lol
I couldn't imagine being angry , or wasting days in bad moods or even just frowning constantly
that seems like such an effort to me

are you like me ?
or do you find people like me odd ?
what are your thoughts guys ?

all thoughts appreciated

Fortunately up to now, all deviations from Tradition which we have described have not cut off the Orthodox churches from their root. The tree remains alive and thriving in spite of all the garnishes which they have added to it. The Orthodox churches have not withered as has happened to the «churches» of the West. If you just shake off the dust which the secular spirit has scattered upon them, you will find the fresh leaves of the authentic Tradition. Tradition has never ceased to live and to be in force in the sphere of Orthodoxy.

There are still monks who live Orthodox monasticism. There are still genuine theologians who have not defiled the truth, but keep it shining and pure, far from any alien mingling. There are still Byzantine chanters and true bearers of the Orthodox iconographic tradition. There are still priests like the old ones, dedicated to their sacred function, whose constant contact with God does not permit them to be distressed over their long beards and black robes, but rather makes these things radiate holiness. There are still simple people who are worthy of seeing great miracles.

The true Tradition, then -the life, the spiritual experience, and the teaching of the Apostles and the Holy Fathers of all ages, these imprints of the walking of the Holy Spirit in the hearts of Christians- exists and continues alive among the living without any break from the Apostolic times. There is a constant harmony in all the actions of the Orthodox of all ages up to the present day, written and unwritten; and this is the golden rule upon which everyone must measure his thoughts and actions in order to see if he is within or out of the scope of Orthodoxy. The outward signs might give the impression that the continuity has been corrupted or broken, but if one looks a little further he will see that it still blossoms and refreshes those who seek it. …

Let all who speak so lightly about the union of the churches understand that the unity of the Church is a mystical gift of the divine presence. It is not something which is decided upon at conferences, but something which either exists or does not exist. No decision of men can constrain God.

Of course, externally union can come about, and all can declare -Protestants, Catholics, and Orthodox- that now we are at last one church, and we can commemorate the Pope of Rome, and the Pope of Rome can commemorate the Patriarch of Constantinople. If we all agree upon one «minimum of truth», upon one simplified creed, and if a few other issues are settled, there can be union. It will be a legally and externally valid system, but it will be a system that has no relation with the Church of Christ, even if all external appearances make it resemble the Church. «God is not mocked». When the conditions of His presence do not exist in men, God does not come to men.

The Church of Christ was never a human system. The Church was born, it was not constructed. The discussions of men can make something to which they can give the name of «Church». But this fabrication will be something with no life. The living Church will have no relation to it. …

One day, a group of scientists get together and decide that they no longer need God. So they decide to go to God and tell him that they no longer need him.
When they tell him the news, God says "Why do feel that you do not need me anymore?"
"Because we have developed cloning technology, and are perfectly capable of sustaining our own existence now." Replied one of the scientists.
"O.k" Said God "Lets have a man-making competition to see who can make the best man, but one condidtion, we have to make a man the same way I made Adam, from the Earth itself."
"Alright" Said the scientist, and bent down and scooped up a handful of dirt.
"No no no no!" Said God "Get your own dirt, that's mine!"
