Over the course of 2 and a half years I've found my happiness. I've found someone (a friend) who makes me happy. And I don't mean fake happiness like drugs and things like that I mean real happiness from within. I've found a sport I love and it really makes me so happy - people notice. But this year I am not allowed to see this friend while living in the same house as my parents, and I may not able to do sports again due to an injury. The two things that I love, gone. I've prayed and prayed and prayed and after a while I've felt I'm talking to myself. Why would God not want me to be happy? A test of faith? A test of faith to ... lose everything that ever made me feel happy and special?
God wants us to be happy not sad. So... whats up?
I figure everyone will answer - keep praying and wait it out dear we work on God's time not ours. Or the wonderful answer of you need more faith.

How do atheists respond to this argument?

If there were no benevolent creator, humans would have evolved through the blind process of natural selection. This process selects brains are prone to survival, not necessarily brains that can detect reality. If this were true, we'd have no reason to believe our conclusions are true, only that they are good for our survival. We must assume there is a God, like we assume the axioms of logic.

Since I am guessing that about 80 percent of the world is religious or belongs to a religious group, you would think that the world would be a much better place since most religions preach non-violence. As a Catholic, I am disgusted when I see people who claim to worship that use Him as an excuse to persecute and kill other people. What are your thoughts on this?

I've heard things recently like AC/DC stands for Anti-Christian/Devil's Child, KISS stands for Knights in Satan's Service and other strange things of the kind having to do with music and Satan. I know that bands of these kinds have written songs of hell, but are they really satanic and I sin if I hear them?

I find it all odd, if not obscure, but do these claims have any merit whatsoever?

There was a brutal murder of a 9 year old girl, and a lot of people are all coming up with ways that the men who committed the murder should be punished. However, according to God's word, we should forgive. It's really hard to forgive something so heinous and cruel being done to a child. Should a Christian forgive everything?

Do you find it interesting to read how many interpertations there are of the Holy Bible. If I asked a question regarding a scripture I would likely recieved many different answers. I believe in God, but I don't believe he sat down and wrote the bible, that I believe was man and what man believed and in time has place in the bible what he interpeted God to want or what he as man believed as right or wrong. Honestly if it were the word of God wouldn't it be pretty self explanitory and not have so many interpetations? Do you find that interesting?

Since I am an atheist who lives a whole, happy, and healthy life without any belief in a god then what purpose does it serve a person to believe in a god?

Hypotherically speaking so god created earth and Adam and Eve. With that said now I'm talking history, if it was so beautiful when it was all created then what about the ugly cavemen, dinosaurs and the ice-era? That's not pretty but prehistorical and there's findings, is Genesis for reals? What about science, history and it's findings? Could it be that someone decided to write beautiful stories along w/scary ones and called it the bible? I am confused.......help!

Than from all the wars combined..."?

Am I just a dolt? I can point to some very, very bad things that have happened in the name of Christianity --- but a lot of people have died in wars. Am I missing something? It seems like a tiny fraction of people have been killed in the name of Christianity as opposed to 'all the wars combined'.

Am I missing something? If I am, could you please link me to a source (or tell me where I can find one) that backs up a claim like this?

Thanks!

I mean, if you're going to deny that he exists, you ought to first at least read his book, see if it's any good, see if there's anything to it.

Right?

I do not mean to offend any Christians by asking this Question. I have been studying the Bible for some time and would like you to find me a verse where Jesus (peace be upon him) himself has said/stated that he is the son of God. I know it has been said in a third person, many CALLED him son of God and Jesus has said ''You say that I am'' but that isnt the same thing as Jesus (peace be upon him) saying he himself is. Please could you clarify on this.

Mark 1:35
Gabriel says Jesus will be “called the son of God” and he would be “given the Throne of David” to “rule the House of Jacob forever.”

Luke 3:36
“Enos was the son of Seth, and Seth was the son of Adam, and Adam was the son of God.”

Note: Adam, not Jesus, is listed in this genealogy of Jesus as the son of God, not Jesus.

Later on, the priests are asking Jesus, peace be upon him, if he claims to be the son of God. He tells them in fact, it is they who are making this claim.

“You say that I am.”

Gospel of John contains the greatest number of references to “son of God.”
Jesus, speaking in the third person talked about the “Son of God” in John 3:17

John 5:24
John 11:4
John 11:27

Martha, one of the followers, calls Jesus, peace be upon him, “The Messiah, the Son of God”
John 20:31 he is called “The Messiah, the Son of God.”

But no verse makes the exact statement “Jesus is the Son of God and as such he is divine or God.”

According to the Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion, a study of 10th graders revealed that “higher levels of involvement in church activities likely signifies…a motivation toward education that leads to better math and reading skills.”

College students who scored high on a “spiritual well-being” scale exhibited healthier psychosocial profiles than their lower-scoring counterparts in areas of self-esteem, loneliness, marijuana use, alcohol use, and feelings of hopelessness.

A Gallup poll found that almost 70 percent of respondents “believe that faith-based organizations do the best job of helping youth in the community.”
