I've heard things recently like AC/DC stands for Anti-Christian/Devil's Child, KISS stands for Knights in Satan's Service and other strange things of the kind having to do with music and Satan. I know that bands of these kinds have written songs of hell, but are they really satanic and I sin if I hear them?
I find it all odd, if not obscure, but do these claims have any merit whatsoever?

To answer some posed questions, I am not LDS. Also, I am just curious about these claims. I didn't make them, I find them odd and I was just curious to see what others thought.

No, those claims don't have any merit whatsoever. There are Satanic bands out there (self-proclaimed, no less!), but stuff that mainstream really isn't. And it isn't a sin to listen to ANY music- only to have sinful thoughts and/or commit sinful deeds!

People who are offended by Rock always were trying to "prove" a Satanic connection to persuade parents to stop their children from listening to it. Some bands adopted the imagery as an ironic statement - mostly Heavy Metal groups. But actual (versus stage) Satanism? I have never heard a credible report of it. Sin is something that happens within the heart, not through the ears, though some radical conservatives would want listening to many things considered sinful.

Most of those claims are frivolous. This claim has frequently been made because of "shock" rockers playing to the prejudices of the audience to sell more records.
If memory serves, Gene Simmons (lead singer of KISS) is a non-observant Jew and other members of various "Metal" bands are generally either Christian or Jewish.
Even if a particular member of a band is Satanic, it is not reasonable to characterize the entire band that way.

Is there really such a thing as a Christian band?
Music is neither Christian or satanic-- it is music.
The lyrics to music may have Christian/satanic undertones, but they cannot be classified as Christian or satanic either.
The only thing that can be classified as Christian or Satanic is a living, breathing, PERSON. Everything else is neutral and can only have aspects of either Christianity or Satanism but cannot be Christian or Satantic.

AC DC and KISS aren't satanic. Drunken and over-sexed at times, yes.
There are satanic bands under the genre of Black Metal: King Diamond is one.
Only you can decide if listening to classic rock is a sin or not. Use your mind, listen to the music and make your own decision.

AC/DC means alternating current, direct current. The Youngs' sister came up with the name after seeing it on an amp's power chord.
Satanic? Hardly. Rocking? Yes! They're businessmen who entertain.
KISS are a bunch of musical hacks who made it due to make up and I wouldn't worry about them either. Bassist Gene Simmons is an Israeli who is only interested in money and sex. What the hell does he need with your imaginary Satan?

Trust me, a lot of media out there right now is Satanic. Just listen closely to the lyrics of popular songs today and look closely at popular shows today. They are slowly putting in Satanic things in there while we don't notice until everything is full blown Satanic and people don't mind since they have been slowly putting in more and more. This applies especially to Hip-Hop. I like rap but I have heard some very disturbing things when I listened closely especially from Jay-Z and Three Six Mafia.

Charles Manson recorded an album in 1967. But I think deranged is more appropriate than Satanic.
Richard Ramirez also had some strong rock and roll and so-called satanic influences.
Don't really see why you want to blame everything on Satan when humanity obviously doesn't need his help to do evil.

So say the fundies. They think anything that isn't a hick squalling out a hymn is satanic.
AC/DC is an electrical current. KISS stands for kiss. They aren't satanic.

All rock bands are satanic, even those that play 'christian' music (if there is any such thing).
Check out the roots of rock, what the rhythm does to a person's physiology and psyche. The actual words have little or no effect. It is the syncopated beat that is most prominent.
