My grandmother is turning 100 this year and we are planning a party to honor her. I would like a bibe verse to include on the invitation. For her 90th birthday, we used "Her children arise and call her blessed ..."

That is the question. I hope that you all understand how
important the word respect is. And some of us do not
respect other people's cultures. No how stupid is that.
As if any 1 culture is superior to another. If that were
the case, then why all the diversity. But anyway, when
are more Muslims gonna just see Jews as just people.
And vice versa. As long as one group go their own way.....
Then there should be no problems at all. Despite the
history between the 2. Unity is more powerful than
seperation. The diviness of the universe demands it.
Then can we all have balance in our lives, rather than
this illogical anger. The extremist should be denounced
by the non extremist. For evil to conquer, is when
good men do nothing. So we should all respect other
peoples religions and lifestyle. Do Muslims respect
the Jews ? Best answer wins. *

Does their version of orthodox Christianity not recognize what is said in the NT about how circumcision does not mean anything in relation to Christ?

Galatians 5:2-6:

Pay close attention to me, Paul, when I tell you that if you have yourselves circumcised, Christ will be of no use to you. I point out once more to all who receive circumcision that they are bound to the law in its entirety. Any of you who seek your justification in the law have severed yourselves from Christ and fallen from God’s favor! It is in the spirit that we eagerly await the justification we hope for, and only faith can yield it. In Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor the lack of it counts for anything; only faith, which expresses itself through love."

1 Corinthians 7:18-19

Was someone called after he had been circumcised? He should not try to hide his circumcision. Did the call come to another who had never been circumcised? He is not to be circumcised. Circumcision counts for nothing.

Ive seen atheists pointing fingers at believers in the following way: you all dont understand science and hence you dismiss it as a form of supernatural.

Basically what theyre saying is: youre all ignorant, hence you submit so easily to religion.

Fair enough, there are many believers who casually dismiss things as supernatural since they have no further knowledge, but theyre an equal number of people who dont either.

When I previously asked a question about whether atheists understand the whole concept of Creator in the heart of the believer, most of the atheists said they didnt.

So, if some believers dismiss things as supernatural because theyre ignorant, why do atheists dismiss God because they dont understand it?

Isnt this all, simply, a sign of ignorance?

Recently my boyfriend who was raised Catholic, but doens't believe in the Catholic Church any longer and I ( have been discussing how we would like to raise our children.
At first I felt that since I was only around the church until 2nd grade that I turned out ok and didn't believe it was necessary. He feels tha some kind of religion is good to have.
I have a strong background in biology and have been pulled more to believe that evolution is to thanks for the world we live in. I wouldn't say that I am atheist, I just don't know what to think when it comes to religion. I am interested in learning more and have been looking into what other people believe.
So without starting a debate or making anyone want to throw holy water on me, we are trying to figure out how to raise our kids to think for themselves and NOT force one religion on them. We want them to decide what path in life to follow.
What are you thoughts on this and what would you do?

the first answer says that the questioner is asking that atheists "Use logic to prove the non-existence of a being I posit is impervious to logic."

is this how atheists feel Christians debate?

Seriously, sleeping, video games, etc, I can't think of any.

Prayer does not accomplish anything at all. Statistically, it's been tested and proven, re-tested and re-proven, over and over again. People who pray are no more likely to win the lottery, support a Superbowl winning team, get a promotion, or get home before the storm hits. In many cases, prayer has had negative effects (because prayer is often subsituted for constructive actions.)

I know the Christians are going to either argue vehemently or accept that I will "never understand," etc.

But atheists, can you think of a bigger waste of time than prayer? I can justify everything I can come up with.

be honest, if the leaders of your religion told you a claim which he said proved the existence of the god of your religion, how likely are you to investigate that claim for its veracity? if you knew the claim was at the very least a misconception, if not a flat out lie, would you be willing to correct him?

According to one Mormon apologist, "I'm not sure - they were taken from Joseph by the same angelic being that showed him their original location. We await their return for the translation of the remaining 2/3 of the Book when the time is right.... " It is easy for Joseph Smith, Jr. to say "The angel took the gold plates away." The Mormon's will even reason, "If you need to see the plates to believe the Book of Mormon, do you need to see the ark to believe the Old Testament or the missing documents of Paul and Luke to believe the New Testament? I hope your faith is not that weak. (sic)" Wow. They really do not understand that the Old and New Testament has numerous manuscripts evidence written by not just one person but several people. Unlike the Book of Mormon which is written by Joseph Smith, Jr. alone. Are you really serious in banking your soul on the subjective opinion of this man who claimed he is the so-called "prophet" of God?

The after life do u believe in heaven and hell, or reincarnation. I honestly don't know if i do. if i knew it existed i wouldn't of been able to post this question. How do u know that it just doesn't turn black when u die, nothing , no love, cold, warmth, nothing, nothing but nothingness. How do we know that this life isn't the only thing. i personally cannot accept this as the only thing in life. It's to hard to think that we are born to live this one life then when u die it's all over. How do we know were gonna be happy in the after life. How do we know it's all perfect and were gonna be happy. Heaven, my heaven would be on a beach with the person i love and be totally enwarped up in each other that nothing around us bothers us. Haveing someone to care about that would care about me back. It's to hard to accept this though, if god does exist then why would he put people threw this kind of personal hell i'm going threw, is this all worth it, could tylenol be a friend? HELP!!!?????????

Our nearest star, Proxima Centuri, is 4.2 light years away. Judging from our present knowledge about what we know about the limits of space travel, and the sheer distances involved, it is extremely unlikely that Man will ever reach Proxima Centuri or beyond. It is simply too far away.

Also, if you believe we are alone in this Universe, then why was the Universe created so vast? It is like keeping a single Goldfish in the Atlantic.

I'd like to hear your thoughts.
