On the issue of whether or not there is a God, primarily. Personally, I think Alan Keyes or even the pope would give him a run for his money.

Also where in the Bible does it say that we are not supposed to mix our celebrations with those of another religion? I can't remember but I know it's in there...

I am Christian and I know in the Bible it says that God doesn't want you mixing Pagan/other religions Holidays with Christian Holiday or making them into Christian holidays. Which Holidays are originally pagan or from another religion so that I can rethink things. I want to follow the Lord in everything and I don't want to do things that are displeasing to Him.

Other religions? Other philosophies? Science? Different systems of belief than the one to which you adhere ~ with an open mind?

If not, then how do you know that your practice is right for you?

I ask for logical answers that others can relate to outside your system of belief.

This is in no way meant to challenge anyone's belief(s) and I hope others will refrain from challenging others as well. I just want to have an open discussion and learn from those willing to throw down something logical or otherwise thought provoking.

Should a persons religious belief hold more of an influence over them than their family?

For example...should a parent disown their children because they won't convert to that parents chosen religion?

Should a parent disown their children because they lead a lifestyle which the parents religious beliefs dictate is wrong?

Should one spouse dictate which religious beliefs the other spouse is to follow?

All of these scenarios are valid examples (which I've heard have actually happened. One I know of personally happening...) of a person allowing their religious beliefs to be held to a higher degree than their own family.

Is this right? Is there any religious practice that dictates THAT religion should be held to a higher degree than an individuals family? Should that particular religious practice be taken seriously in the event it does dictate such a thing???

What're your thoughts???

why do people often assume that because a person is religious, specifically christian, that they think that everyone is going to hell? why do they assume that the christian is closed minded? why do they automatically make the judgement that the person is hateful towards anyone who doesn't believe?
