It's not. There is no one "correct" religion or spiritual path mandated for all people. Only the most spiritually immature, shortsighted, or dogmatic would believe that. Even for those of us who do believe in God or a "Higher Power," how could the Great Creator of the Entire Universe fit into one tiny, little, man-made box? Hmmm?

The word "religion" means, at its root, the re-alignment or re-connection of ourselves with God. (Religion = Re + legion). So, it would follow that since there are many of us, there would be many ways to connect with God.

I have religion but more importantly I have a spiritual relationship with a God. It is my belief that this God is THE GOD. So to me it's not about correct and incorrect it's about truth and lies, what's genuine and what's counterfeit. What makes him the God of gods. Just because he is. He says that he is The Great I Am. Any other Gods claim to be the only true wise and living God? Many religions don't bar their people from serving other Gods. This God I call my God says He is a jealous God and there shall be no other Gods before Him. Obviously I believe this and I feel that serving Him is the appropriate decision and I wish that others would make the appropriate decision too.

I wish that everyone would have the knowledge and resources that they needed to make an "informed" decision. My God doesn't make anyone serve Him. His word says "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve" If God doesn't force people to choose Him, why would I? I do believe however there are rewards and consequences for those who choose to and who choose not to serve Him. Why do I believe that, because He says so. Does that make Him a bad God. Not the way I see it. Our choices Will send us to heaven or hell, not God.

Now as for narrowmindedness, I do not believe that because I belive Jehovah is God and because I want everyone else to know and believe this that I am narrowminded. When someone discovers a truth, even a hidden truth they want to share that truth and they want others who have not known to accept this as the truth. Those who believed that the earth was round and not flat went to great lengths to prove that it was, they also wanted to share this with others. I just want to share this truth that I believe I've found with others.

Thank You,
God Bless

truth is truth, whether you accept it or not, my religion is truth. If that makes me evil or narrowminded, so be it, I'd rather be narrowminded than turn my back on God.
But just because my religion (Christianity) is the correct religion, the truth, etc. does not mean that I will hate you or exclude you if you don't agree or believe. What you believe is not up to me. I can tell you what I believe and why, but I can't turn you into something you are not.
Thanks for asking questions that are thought provoking, Bill!
To everyone who will give me a thumbs down, I'm sorry for offending you, but I had to give an honest answer to an honest question.

Because people believe in their religion. If your religion wasn't the best, why would you be that religion? I'm a Mormon, and I know that my religion is the correct religion. A Buddhist would think their religion is correct. So would a Catholic or Hindu or Muslim.

Fundamentalists truly believe that they must conquor all other religions before their true messiah/messianic age can take place. Seems lame to me....
And those with a lack of religion AND writing about it are most likely searching for a belief from all others otherwise they wouldn't be writing about it, just out living their lives.

It's not, everyone has a right to their own beliefs. However, when their beliefs lead them to kill people or hurt people in the name of their religion, thats where the line should be drawn. That to me would not be a "correct" religion.

A lot of people anwering here religously, are getting thumbs down,so instead of telling my faith,I will just say that there is a power greater than ourselves, and leave it at that.It shows what they think if people post what they really think. Not that it matters all that much, because I know my thoughts too are taken with a grain of sand.

I don't concern myself with what others believe. Live and let live . I know my religion is the correct one for me. That's all that matters.

Everybody wants to make everyone else as much like themselves so they will feel good about themselves, feel comfortable and unchallenged. The sad truth is that no one will make everyone else the same. So you have to learn to accept diversity in people and get used to competing ideas; it is really a good thing because if everyone were the same we would all die of boredom!
