If it were all clear and unidirectional, there would be fewer people making a living without earning it. That would be bad for the printing industry.

You are only picking out part of the verse that suits your needs, read the whole passage of exekiel 18:20 and see that the father thats being spoken of, is one who is in idolotry and the son is not, in that case by the son's faithfulness his fathers iniquity is not passed onto him. If you wanna find contradiction in the Bible your not gonna do it. Unless of course you take something out of context and twist a portion of it to fit your needs, as you did with this question........FAIL

Nope. You conveniently left out "the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
THEM THAT HATE ME
Jer 31:29 In those days they shall say no more, The fathers have eaten a sour grape, and the children's teeth are set on edge.
Jer 31:30 But every one shall die for his own iniquity: every man that eateth the sour grape, his teeth shall be set on edge.
DECEPTION ALERT !!!!.
Make note of this individual.

you need to look more at the context of the passages.
the ezekial passage was refering to the fathers sins. the child is not accountable for what his father has done, he has a choice to live for himself.
the exodus passage...if you read the following verse you would have seen that it says "but showing love to a thousand {generations} of those who love me and keep my commandments." God is saying here that those who do not love him and keep his commandments are choosing death...not that he wishes this for them.
