That's the way Mark Twain sees it.
It's either that or it's like an R. Kelly after party.

Well, I am a Christian and I can tell you that if you do not believe in God, then when you die you will not have God in your life. What is life without God, well, since God made everything, then it's pretty much going to be the absence of life. Some people think it's going to be a fire that you'll have to pass through, some think that fire is a spiritual symbol that your spirit will have to be cleansed, like when you burn metals with gold in it, only the gold survives. Others think that it's a real fire and a real place... others believe that it is a dense black hole in space where nothing lives and that it is so dense nothing gets out... and is black and void of life. I ask you this question, either Christ was who he said he was, which was the son of God, or He was a complete mad man that died for nothing. When you read the Bible does it sound like the ramblings of a mad man? Or does it sound like very intelligent remarks that were wisdom beyond the time in which He lived? It's definitely not the ramblings of a mad man, so then He must have been who He said He was. I can see how some people are Atheist however, because a lot of "so-called" Christians read things into the Bible that are not true. For instance, Jesus talked about his favorite minister who was a woman and King James had that stricken from the Bible because he wanted to keep women in their place. Read the Bible and the thoughts that occur to you are the inspired thoughts that God wants you to have to get you through your life.

I belive there is something after death (I am an atheist) but not heaven. I dislike the idea of heaven. Sitting around for entirnity in a perfect paradise? It would drive me insane. It is my hope that life after death is whatever you believe it will be. Then, everyone is happy ;) . Wouldn't that be nice for once?

okay this will be hard to swallow but this is what I believe and what I was brought up on:
We are all part of one Universal Superconscious Mind. When our body dies, our soul goes back into the Universe.
This is how we are all one, all connected...
Deja Vu, etc are all part of this.
for a better understanding, visit my favorite site called
The sage and spirit on you tube, and watch the videos called the three minds!

If I had a nickel for every time this question is asked....
You die. You get buried/cremated. And that's it.
It's over. It's done. There is no "after-death." Everyone comtinues on with life and you're just there. Dead.

In my opinion, your life force returns back to the enviroment and atmosphere. Unless you had some unfinished business, then you stay here on Earth in spirit form.

I think that's exactly what it's going to be like.
Or...have you ever been put under anesthesia for surgery, and then wake up after the surgery, and be surprised that it's over because you didn't even realize you'd gone under?
Like that.

Permanant unconciousness.
Think of when you're asleep, but not dreaming. You have no conciousness, thoughts, or awareness whatsoever. From your perspective, you don't really 'exist' during that time. Dying is like going to sleep without dreaming, and never waking up.

Death is the end of conscious existence. There is no soul to live on, so the only way we continue is as the chemicals that make up our bodies.
It bothers me not at all that I did not exist before my birth, and I don't worry about not existing after I die, either.
