To believe that Jesus did not exist is to engage in selective skepticism. Many historians believe He did indeed exist. Even the Quran gives mention to Jesus.Whether he performed the miracles attributed to him is open for debate.

I have heard several different theories to that, and they all make sense to me. One is that There are so many stories from before Jesus was supposed to have existed, and those stories are all identical to the story attributed to him. These stories are of people with different names; one is Horus, or something like that. So the theory is that the story of Jesus is just another story that was borrowed (stolen) from the older legends with the name changed. And this was meant as a metaphorical story. I have read in some books that none of the writers of the time ever mentioned Jesus, and that the bible is the only reference of him. I have certain leanings regarding what I believe, but I am not completely sure. I have to admit, though, that I would find it most gratifying and joyous, if it were proven once and for all, that he DID NOT exist! *sm*

There is no independent 3rd party witness about the existence of Jesus... He must have been a nice religious person, but that's just about it... everything else was fabricated to come up with Christianity as we know it today!

edit: The available Gospels were written by people who probably never saw him... they all relate only the last few weeks of Jesus life and deeds... Then Saint Paul takes over. Maybe the 12 Apostles were incompetent to do anything right... Saint Paul had to publically reprimand Saint Peter for doing something wrong... and so on... Saint Paul invented Christianity as we know it today....

Yes indeed. As a Muslim it is mandatory for us to believe in all of God's Prophets and The Quran tells us that Jesus existed and talks at length of his miracles and his life.

Yes I do. the question is whether he was all the things they said about him. and what is the truth about the miracles? He walked on water, David Copperfield made an elephant disappear. We know one was an illusion because Copperfield never claimed divinity. Jesus and his followers never gave up the secret saying its a miracle . we know now how easily our senses can be fooled. yet we declare that their perceptions are infallible? He was surrounded by shepherds and fishermen. By modern standards we are taking the word of "Gomer Pyle" and literally calling it gospel.
Was he slick? Was he misunderstood? Was he manipulated as a stooge? Was he the real deal? I wasn't there.

Islam believe Jesus was a real person... as well as 1 of the prophets. But he's no son of god. We believe there were more prophets after him to the last Prophet, Mohammad.

There is no contemporaneous evidence to suggest Jesus actually existed. Nevertheless, I prefer to imagine he was a real human being. That way I have someone I can actually blame for all the hatred, suffering, and death caused by the religion founded in his name.

Of course he was a real person... There is too much proof that you can't deny it... kind of like evolution... :O) However, was he really the Son of God representing a religion? Who knows? Who cares? Could it be that it doesn't matter as long as he is teaching people to Act and Speak rightly and with compassion? Truth is relative... Much like time... :o)

As a muslim yes I do believe that Jesus was only the real person who was appointed by God as a prophet. It is spoken by God in the Qur'an.Jesus was a son of Mary(Maryam).Mary was the daughter of Ali Imran.Mary was a sacred virgin woman.Gabriel angel(holy spirit) told her that she would be pregnant without touching by a man and her son be named Isa Al Masih.Jesus was raised by Zakaria prophet whose son was Yahya prophet.Jesus could talk since a baby and he was given by God some miracles.God spoke in the Qur'an that Jesus was saved by God .He did not die on the cross because he was replaced by a man just like the appearance of Jesus.Jesus died naturally as a human but no one knew his grave .Jesus spoke please worsip my God and your God too.He did not name himself as the son of God...I convince that Qur'an is given by God through Muhammad pbuh as the last prophet.Muhammad pbuh was a very honest man and trusted man and he was illitery too.So Qur'an was not prepared by Muhammad pbuh himself.
.His soul was saved by God ..
