The Christians that do believe this doctrine are the least common denominator of all Christians, but they provide much needed ammunition for the non-believers to use against all believers.

People don't hear enough from religious moderates, of any faith. The extreme believers seem to be the most vocal. Christian television tends to be torward the extreme. I try to debate individual spiritual beliefs, by presenting my version, as compared to some other version. I always hope people are not hateful, and I think most Americans are open minded, to good spiritual people of all beliefs.

Because the person doing the assuming is obviously non-religious and is distanced from the world of religious people and doesn't know how they are or what they believe. All they can go on are stereotypes.

Perhaps because so many "christians" act that way - intolerant of other beliefs, obsessed with their religion as the "only truth", and unwilling to accept the possibility of other ideas that may also be from the Creator but are expressed by someone of a different skin colour.
Perhaps because wars have been started (and millions of people slaughtered) in the name of "christianity" and the "righteous conversion of the heathens".
Perhaps because even non-christians are only human, and judging others is a human sin.

One should never assume, because when you ASSUME you make an *** out of U and ME-------- Actually, to be serious, now, I think it's a nudge from satan to keep the non-believer away from the Christian-- After all, the evil one doesn't want any of us to come to know Christ, and he will fight for every soul!!!

Well I make my assumptions on what most do.That's why when I answer with a generalization I say that most do it.I may hate what they believe but I respect them as long as I'm not disrespected.
Edit:Also they do it right back, well most do.

It's simple stereotyping. Besides, the belief that all have sinned and fall short of the grace of God can be taken to extremes.
