Based on your personal experience, do you think the following reasons explain why there are atheists?

1. Atheists argue that since the world is such a mess, there could not be a God who cares, which (to them) is no different than no God at all.

2. Other atheists say that it would be too much of a coincidence if the religion they were born into were the one correct one, and since they can't know which is the one correct one, they will just ignore the whole thing.

3. Atheists have so much arrogance and hubris that they have a difficult time acknowledging any authority higher than themselves.

4. Still others are comfortable not having to bother to go to church every week and don't want to stay away from the temptations of the world.

Please indicate which of the above are true or false based on your experience with atheists.

I was told some Bibles have the coma in a different part of this statement, which can mean two different things. What do you believe? "Jesus said, today you will be with me in paradise." Did Jesus mean that he will go right to Heaven with him?

where does it say that jesus is god?

if you are really god, it should say that in all the religious books; not just the one you wrote yourself.

If any antisemit would actually answer me that would be great ... maybe there's a reason and I don't see it (though that's not probable, but I am open to hear)

This guy proved to me that Jesus was just made up and I researched the apologist answers, and then the skeptic sources and I guess he's right - but I don't care!

My pastor told me that I had to still believe anyway because my parents are believers also and I cannot break tradition because it will ruin the economy and democracy, He said that facts do not matter when it comes to faith.

so I decided even though Jesus never was really a person, that I would just keep believing - I mean it's a lot easier to keep believing it, instead of listening and debating against all that reason and logic. I mean, i get tired of thinking so much. Which is OK because my Pastor said that the Bible says to bypass the intellect with faith and it's dangerous to think about things too much - one could blaspheme!

OK. Who wrote the Bible? It is claimed to be the word of God, fair enough but who wrote it down? Just a bunch of people who claimed to be speaking to God a few thousand years ago? Well consider if someone made the same claims today. Where would they end up? A secure unit? Also why follow the bible when in truth it is simply the viewpoint of whoever wrote it all those years ago?

In all honesty I like the idea of religion but all the rational parts of my mind cannot get around these few issues.

I was hoping not to offend anyone with this question so apologies to those who were offended.

Before Me there was no God formed, Nor shall there be after Me. Isaiah 43:10

If there is no God formed before or after God then who is this verse talking about.

In [the] beginning the Word was, and the Word was with God, and the Word was a god. NLT

Did God say there would be (a god) formed after me or that there would not be a god formed after me?

So this is our work end of the year party. We can't even call it a *holiday* party because we want our friends and coworkers who are JWs to attend, without offense. We are having it at a mexican restaurant and we are all about emergency air ambulance. I think it would be good to include the word *fiesta*

Any great ideas?

Since coming into Yahoo Answers I have learned that the Mormon church claims that Polygamy was commanded by God. When did this happen? I was a Mormon forty years ago and that was never mentioned in their church.

Also are Mormons pushing to have polygamy reinstated? I see some of their members talking in here about how they wish polygamy was legal.

I wanted to find the right God, so I just started praying four years ago for God to reveal himself to me, whoever he was. I wanted the real God - the creator of the universe - the God of love and truth!

Well, I get on my knees every night before bed and sincerely pray for God to show me himself (however he chooses to do it) I've done this for four years! I wait.

I pray first thing in the morning also, while I'm getting ready for work. I got nothing at all, really, except for this deep peace that I was a human and that everything was going to be alright.

I felt an increasing connection to all life and to the world. But no specifics about who or what God is!?

So two years ago, I read through the Bible, and was somewhat compelled, but something just wasn't jiving with my soul, so I read the Koran- same thing!

I read the Bhgavad Gita and it stirred me, and felt more like a philosophy that I could relate to than a God-focused religion.

God, feels more and more like just life itself!

Wicca is the fastest growing religion

and More people than ever are claiming to be either atheists, agnostic or skeptics

Is it just that people are becoming more educated about things - I mean, you can browse the internet and in minutes, find out the answer to any question!

Is it just harder for people to embrace mythical stories and believe in stuff like walking on water, virgin births and water turning into wine, when that kind of stuff just doesn't happen in real life?
