Characteristics Of Human Beings

It rather depends on what religious tradition you are speaking of. With the Greeks, for example, the primary difference was how much power they had; the gods loved, planned, and got jealous as humans did; they also had a human appearance. It is a similar situation with the Greeks and the Norse.

If you are speaking of Judaism, Christianity, or Islam, it still depends on which tradition within each of those religions you follow. In most of the traditions, god has a lot of passion of one sort or another. In a lot, he also has a physical appearance like humans.

Man has a tremendous capacity to love, a strong sense of justice, a measure of wisdom, and is powerful in his own right. God is love (1John 4:8), just (Deuteronomy 32:4) wise (Psalm 104:24) and powerful beyond measure (Job 26:12, Jeremiah 10:12) These are only a few of the most outstanding qualities of God that are in humankind to a much lesser degree. These qualities are evident despite our imperfection.

The characteristics we have in common with God is that we are in His image and likeness as stated in Genesis. What image and likeness is speaking of is relation and activity. In our relationships and activities we are like God. God loves you and you can love God. God loves all peoples and all peoples can love God. Not only this but we can love one another and it is a use of our God-like quality. How much is it like God can be seen in our nature.
First let us study the Holy Trinity as an example of what our nature reflects. The Holy Trinity is One God in Three Divine Persons. Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father loves the Son completely and with His whole Being. The Son loves the Father completely and with His whole Being. The love between Father and Son is the Holy Spirit. A pale reflection of the Holy Trinity is in our nature as a human family. Man loves woman and woman loves man. They love each other with their being and a child is born. This child is the love of man and woman. In this we are like God. Now this is how we are like God in relationships. How is it we are like God in our activity? Simply put we are like God in that we can create things. God is the sole Creator of all we have, but with our God like quality we can co-create things like our civilization and all that this entails. And so, this is how God and man have something in common. I hope this has been helpful. May the Lord bless and keep you. May the light of His face shine upon you.

Mmm, well, we're made in the Image of God. So either we're egotistically similar to God, or we look a lot like God. Traditionally, it's assumed that we physically look similar to God, and I lean on the conservative side of theology.

We are made in His image, with regard to our ability to reason, and His gift of inalienable free will, (at least until He prohibits evil in heaven for all eternity in the after-life).

We can be more like Him, by FREELY invited His Holy Spirit into our lives, and following His wisdom!

Without choosing to reject evil and live for Him, we are not much like Him at all!

Man has two parts to him. material and immaterial. His material part is his 'earthly house'. eyes, legs, nose, elbow, blood vessels...you get the picture. his immaterial is his heart, soul, intellect and will. when God said that we were made in the image of God I think that it is talking about the immaterial part of man. that doesn't really answer your question but I thought that I would clarify.
