I wanted to find the right God, so I just started praying four years ago for God to reveal himself to me, whoever he was. I wanted the real God - the creator of the universe - the God of love and truth!

Well, I get on my knees every night before bed and sincerely pray for God to show me himself (however he chooses to do it) I've done this for four years! I wait.

I pray first thing in the morning also, while I'm getting ready for work. I got nothing at all, really, except for this deep peace that I was a human and that everything was going to be alright.

I felt an increasing connection to all life and to the world. But no specifics about who or what God is!?

So two years ago, I read through the Bible, and was somewhat compelled, but something just wasn't jiving with my soul, so I read the Koran- same thing!

I read the Bhgavad Gita and it stirred me, and felt more like a philosophy that I could relate to than a God-focused religion.

God, feels more and more like just life itself!

Are you serious? Try to pray with a sincere and humble heart. Using God's name Jehovah might help.

I've read through your question and comments twice. You said that you had prayed in the name of Jesus, humble and sincere, but you never mentioned accepting Him as your Lord and savior or confessing and repenting of sins. Please do not be offended if you have done those things. I only mentioned it because it is important and I didn't see that. Maybe I overlooked it? We serve a God of promise and He is real as is Christ but the thing is if God is not bound by covenant with a "believer," He is no bound to the promise to answer prayer. God is God and can be merciful and do that if He wants but unless you are "his" through Christ, He is not obligated to answer, care for or protect you as is His promise. Also if you aren't saved the Holy Spirit cannot does His work in helping you with faith. Abraham was told by God that he would be the father of a great nation. He was an old man and Sarah was old. They waited and waited and waited. God is not a man that He should lie. Then came Isaac. (I believe 20 years after the promise.) You say that you have seen nothing that shows that God is. God says He has made himself known to man and there is no excuse. God cannot lie. Not calling you a liar but saying you may not have noticed. Many have questions and doubts--this is not a surprise to God who knows the beginning and end of each of us. What we think and what we believe doesn't change the truth that He is. Praying that you don't give up on God because He does not give up on us. Just trust Him. (Proverbs 3:5-6) Best to you. x

I think a lot of God's truth is already known to each person in the aspect of their conscience. You probably already know much of His truth generally, to live as he would want you to and treat people in a loving way, if not specifically.

Without getting into a discussion of ONE truth/God or not, I do believe we can cull a lot of good information that helps give us strength day to day from many sources in philosophy, various religions, and thoughts.

Keep praying, don't give up. Four years is a long time to us, but a smidgeon compared to "everlasting."

You have got me thinking that you believe that more than one god exists....This is NOT TRUE! There is only ONE GOD....Creator of heaven and earth, and all that inhabits in both places!! You must first be saved to have a relationship with God!! You must have faith and believe that HE is the way, the truth, and the life! Pray this prayer, and mean it with all your heart:

Dear Heavenly Father,
I know that I am a sinner, and I ask that you would come into my heart and wash away all my sins, I rebuke the devil from my heart and I want to be conformed to what you want me to be! I love you and I want to serve you as it says in the Bible I should. Now that I have relationship with you, I pray that you would make my life new, and that I would be pleasing to you, Father!
I pray all these things in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN!!!

If you pray this prayer, and mean it with all your heart...you will be saved!! ( :

There is only one God Almighty who is the Creator.( Gen.1:1) His Word is Truth. (John 17:17)
This is what God says about finding Him.... "And ye shall seek me, and FIND ME, when ye shall search for me with ALL YOUR HEART." (Jeremiah 29:13)
He also says that if we draw near to Him that He will draw near to us. (James 4:8)
These are all promises from God. If you are truly seeking...then I would read His Word and pray these promises back to Him. He WILL make Himself known to you.
One thing He says is to obey Him. If you are testing something out....you read the instructions and TRY IT.....to see if it works. You can't just read the instructions and sit there....and then say it doesn't work. This is a connection...it takes both parts DOING something...God's part and your part.
Oh, and belief is a choice...not a feeling.
I will pray for you to make this connection...to believe in and to obey God. You will not regret it.

Burn...best I can encourage you to do is begin with salvation first. Meaning accept that He IS first. Then start off your relationship with Him as worship..instead of requests. Ive been a believer for 10 years and you know what my prayers are mostly? Thanks. Lord thank you for food in my fridge. Thank you for strength to get out of bed. Thank you for grace and mercy...thanks.... You begin to have a relationship with Him when you can first acknowledge His Hand in every part of your life. This is the first step of Him 'revealing' Himself to you. As you learn to thank Him for what He has already done, what He does every day, your heart becomes more open for Him to reveal greater things to you.

Jesus was big on parables so I'll try one...My daughter wants a car when she turns 18. She's never had one.She doesnt have her license yet. To her...the answer to her desire is a 2008 Honda Civic. What she doesnt understand is how to be grateful to have any car. She'll likely wind up with a 94 Civic but she will learn to appreciate it..and then be grateful for it..and then truly appreciate that new car later. **a weak attempt but I tried**

Your desire to know Him seems heartfelt. I encourage you to put on a garment of praise and ask the HS to reveal understanding behind scripture. David had a heart that longed for God and doubted Him at times. Read Psalms and see if it doesnt connect with your spirit.

This is what I went through:

You have to trust Him, that's what faith is. You also have to gain peace with Him, He is not interested in the Koran or the Bhgavad Gita. He revealed Himself in the flesh as Jesus. You gain peace with God through Jesus Christ, and stop checking out the options when there aren't any options!

This is what Jesus said:
17 "For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."
( John 3 )

Now trust Him for it.

what are you doing wrong? you're not listening...

sounds like God is telling you all kinds of things...

"...deep peace...everything is going to be alright...increasing connection to all life and the world..."

each time you ask, whether out loud or silently...God answers...where do you think your ideas and inspiration come from?

I would not recommend trying to hear voices from God. Most of the people who do seem to get into trouble.
