Not in Christianity. A true Christian wouldn't oppress a woman.
The Bible says that God is Jesus' head, that Jesus' is man's head and that the man is the woman's head. After all, Adam was created first and Eve from his rib. The Bible also says that the husband must respect his wife and love her like his own body.

As clearly seen from the idiotic answer above, yes they most certainly are. Women are not equal to men in any mainstream religion. No matter how hard they may try and twist their tenets around. That is a fact.
