The harvest is the world.

The laborers are believers in the LORD Jesus Christ.

The verse speaks about going into all the world with the gospel (good news).

Most of the people who heard Jesus say this knew very well about the bountiful harvests of wheat, grapes, and other crops that grew in Israel in those days. They also knew that it takes much more work to harvest a crop than to sow seed or take care of the crops during the growing season. But there is a deeper application, and some of the others have shared what they know.

As you read chapter 9, you'll see that Jesus had been through a lot--healing people, answering questions, and so forth. He knew that His message was what the people needed to hear, but few were willing to share that message. That, to me, is one of the primary things the passage shows me. Besides, there were only a few of the people back then who followed Him as the disciples did.

Keep reading your Bible and don't hesitate to ask questions. Many of us here would be glad to help!

Mat 9:37 Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few;
Mat 9:38 Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

It means, there are many people to be taught of the words of God in the bible, but there are only few who wanted to preach the truth about God. so we must pray to God that He will send many preachers entire the earth or world.
There are many people on earth but only few believe God. We should pray to God that He will call those nonbelievers to believe inorder to be saved.

It is a Q saying (meaning the same words can be found in more then one of three synoptic gospels).

It means Harvest Master God/Jesus has the authority to send his few laborers (preacher (diciples)) out on missions. Jesus prepares them with the same words in Luke 2

The mission itself is found in Mark 6 (the story picks up where Luke and Matthew leave off) to drive out demons, anoint the sick with oils, preach repentance. Do God's work.

Jesus sent his disciples out in the ministry to talk to people all over the nations (Acts 1:8) to speak specifically about the "Good News of God's Kingdom" (Matt 24:14).
His desciples were required to do this to actually be called "Christians", (Matt 28:19,20)and this world wide preaching work to the Nations whether they believe or not is being done even now in over 230 lands by Jehovah's Witnesses to draw people thats in search of the true God whom God also draws to himself as Jesus did this work in the days of his earthly ministry& still doing this very day.(John 6:44) Yet you still have people wonder why the witnesses go from door to door, and want us to stop. No one can stop God's work, but only him, in his own due time.

Jesus is referring to the ingathering of those wanting to serve God, during the time preceding Armageddon. He is saying that there will be so many people that need to be reahed, that those who are doing the gathering work will be 'spread thin', & encourages them to request more ingatherers.

In he speaks of the weeds growing with the wheat, & says to allow the weeds to continue growing with the wheat, until the grain is ripe, so they won't uproot the wheat with the weeds before it is ready. This allows the two to become more different, & easier to tell apart, too.

The harvest is provisions or God's promise but there are very few that will follow him (laborers). Pray that the lord will send followers to sow for the reaping.

The harvest=The goodness of G-d, the blessings.
The labourers=The believers who choose to follow the LAW of G-d.

Which I take it to mean this: G-d is bountiful. The people who actually believe and follow the Law are few. Because of so many blessings, you will want to share them. Pray for others that they may believe.

Others may argue this, but that's what I take from it.

There are many people who have heard the Gospel and are ready to be taken the last steps. Believers need to be aware of this and do the simple work before them. God desires that not one be lost.
