I have done some googling and still have a few questions left about ecclesiastes. Please just post the link, and not copy and paste the whole web page - I don't mind how I get the information as long as I get it:

Why was ecclesiastes written?

What is the book about (I have begun to answer this question, but need more info)

What well known passages does it contain?

Is it important to the modern world?

Is there anything else it would be helpful to know about the book?

Thanks alot in advanced, - You don't have to answer all of the questions.

Consider it an intervention, stopping the folks from answering (or asking) again.

I sometimes see the argument here that homosexuality is 'unnatural' and as 'proof' it is argued that homosexuality is not observed in other animals (never mind that it actually is).

But by that definition, theism is also 'unnatural' since it is not observed in other animals. Does that mean theists should not be allowed to marry?

Do you think Love in the bible is defined the same as the word "love" is defined today in our modern world?
Is love a hallmark card?
does love tolerate everything?

What do you think is the true definition of love according to the bible? Use scriptures when you can.........thank you.

What do you make of the letter from Pliny the Younger, governor of Pontus / Bithynia (111 - 113 AD) to the Roman emperor Trajan, which states that the Christians "...sing responsively a hymn to Christ as to a god" ?

http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/source/pliny1.html

According to this unbiased, SECULAR source, Christians WORSHIPPED Christ in song, long before the time of Constantine and the alleged corruption of the professing church through him.

This secular observation of believers singing hymns to Christ would seem to underline the teaching of scriptures such as John 5:22 - 23 & Revelation 5:13 - 14, which show that Christ SHARES the worship of the church with the Father.

Your comments, please ?

Thanks in advance for all sincere, polite replies.

People usually say the Devil made me do it. But specifically if you are a believer exactly what methods does Satan use to tempt someone, or make them stray?

I've coined the word "super atheist" to refer to someone that not only believes that "God does not exist" (now) but also believes that God could never have existed or never will exist because one or more definitions of God (all powerful, all good, etc) leads to a paradox - the existence of God is therefore logically impossible.

Consider another famous paradox to illustrate my point... it's called the Ship's Barber Paradox:

On a ship, there's a barber who follows the following rule (definition) regarding haircuts "The ship's barber cuts the hair of everyone on the ship that does not cut his own hair". This definition seems reasonable, until you ask yourself the following question, "Who cuts the ship's barber's hair?" If he doesn't cut his own hair then the barber cuts his hair. But if the barber cuts his own hair then he doesn't cut his hair. This is a paradox that proves that a ship's barber CAN NOT exist (given the original definition).

The same is true of God.

I have not found many that believe like I so. I believe in the possibility of god/gods, I believe in evolution and that no god/gods created the earth, but I also believe that nature and all things in nature contain powers that we can use. I believe if there is a such thing as god/gods they are here to help not judge and cast us into hell. I believe that as humans and living creatures we have in us all the ability to do good or do evil. I do not believe in hell or Satan. I believe that death is just that....dead. On the other hand I believe in Jesus, I do believe he was here on earth but was fool by the religious folks into think he was the son of God. I love his teachings and find it said that so called Christians do not live and love like he did. So what am I ?

Think about it. Both have the same letters in their names. Both wear red suits, and both have little minions who do their bidding (elves & demons)
Crazy, huh?

Also, Can you think of any more similarities?

What is so wrong about being proud of something? If you've worked hard for something, why shouldn't you be proud of it?

Just as a matter of interest.

If the human body was intelligently designed, it wasn't well-designed. The fovea, wisdom teeth, the respiratory-digestive crossover in the throat, the reproductive-excretory combination in the urethra (running through the prostate to boot!) - couldn't God have been a little more, um, intelligent in his design?

Are intelligent design advocates inadvertently painting their God as a doofus? Does intelligent design fail more as religion or as science?

The Catholics, in their prayers, describe Jude as "near kinsman of Jesus Christ."
Was he a cousin? A step-brother?

Do you ever wonder... why people even NEED to know? About god, the universe, where it came from, where we're going... Dont get me wrong or anything I wouldnt be here if I were not fascinated by these various vague concepts... which made me ask the first question first in the first place.... why is it some people NEED to know... so badly that they make it up. People believed firmly in Ra, or XipeTotec, or Baal... most people see these names and relate them to an ole superstitious religion...or even have never heard of them at all... But is that it? Is that the answer to the question there? Do we just desperately need to shed ourselves of the realization that one day, be it a thousand years, one hundred years, or ... tomorrow? Our name will be utterly erased from the universe. My name that I bear so proudly, my words, my sum total, eventually as a matter of absolute fact, will be gone.
Personally, I like it, frees me up to wonder at it all...

All we are appearing to do here is to argue about what is right & what is wrong & we never come to a REAL resolution no matter how much we do

What is the benefit of all these usually unproductive debates about our own beliefs, which we rarely seem to change & the only thing that does actually seem to change is an increase in levels of hatred forother group/belief systems etc

Our goals are the same as we claim....do good unto others & help others to do good into even more people -indirectly all of us have within our heart an inner desire to keep others from suffering, but we are caught up so much in these argumental conflicts that we rarely stop to think that if we all united,we could work together,to make this world an actual better place

Whatever your belief is,admit it,you don't want people to suffer & we all have our own way of trying to do so,but do you really think the curses we put against eachother help our common cause?

STOP the hatred, unite for love
Thank you for reading:)

Well me and someone who sits beside in school were talking.. because sometimes before class we get to talk. And while we were talking he was reading some snake book that had evolution in it. So randomly.. he goes "look at all the species that were left behind because of evolution!!" and i am like... "im Christian.. and i don't believe in evolution."

then he says..."i am a Christian too.. but i believe in evolution.. i mean.. its in the Bible"

THAT TOTALLY THREW ME!!
Until he explained.. and that made me remember..

in the Bible.. satan [[when trying to fool Eve]] was a lizard.. and his punichment was that he had his arms and legs taken off.

so does that mean evolution exists???

HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!
