I sometimes see the argument here that homosexuality is 'unnatural' and as 'proof' it is argued that homosexuality is not observed in other animals (never mind that it actually is).

But by that definition, theism is also 'unnatural' since it is not observed in other animals. Does that mean theists should not be allowed to marry?

To those of you saying homosexuality is a sin because of God's word, I reject your God (which is my right) so unless you can provide a *secular* argument for why gay people should be discriminated against, please STFU about it.

This 'unnatural' argument is always used when you people are pressed to argue against gay rights without invoking God - and the argument, as I have just demonstrated, is bogus.

(And don't worry VTs, I'm still straight. And I still worship you.)

problem, I am addressing Christians because I live in the US and it is christians, by a vast majority, who want to limit the rights of homosexuals.

Knowing somebody who is homophobic does not equate with knowing somebody who will march on city all and invoke the name of a fictional character for the purpose of limiting the freedom of others.

If christians don't want to be singled out on this issue, they should stop injecting themselves into the debate about what other people can and cannot do in their bedrooms.

Carlpart, by your strictly reproductive argument, a 50 year old man raping a fecund 12 year old girl is 'natural' because it can lead to a baby. While sex between two consenting adults (either gay, or even a heterosexual couple using birth control) is unnatural.

Good job.

Semper Fi,

First provide some evidence that there is a God, then you can argue you bigotries by invoking his name.

I know. Its insane, isn't it? I myself am an atheist, but I went to a Catholic school in 7th grade and now in high school. My religion teacher there, a nun, told the class that it was a sin to act on homosexuality because it "interfered with God's great plan." A student asked why if it was against His great plan had He created homosexual people. She answered that homosexuality had been created through original sin along with the other "great evils" of the world. Then I asked her if Adam and Eve sinning had made the other animals gay too(I stressed the word "other", implying that humans are animals as well). I informed her that 15% of all animals of species that have genders were in some way attracted to the same sex. She completely ignored my question and told me to see her after class. I was reprimanded for asking silly questions that were disrupting the lesson. But you're right. Everything about religion is hypocrisy, which I know first hand.

There is no valid secular argument. If they say marriage is for reproduction, they must take away the right to marry from anyone who is infertile or does not intend to have children. If they say marriage is the unchanging foundation of the family, then they have no concept of the ever-changing history of marriage.

Really their biggest problem is the 'ew' factor. And the tendency to think that what other consenting adults do in bed is any of their beeswax. They like to tell other people how to live their lives, professing that their way is the best way, the only way, for anyone.

On a side note, my husband was always for marriage equality on the principle of equal rights. But then we went to a domestic partnership ceremony of two of my college friends, and he was so touched by their love and devotion and courage he's now for marriage equality for much more personal reasons - empathy and compassion for our fellow men.

DONALD G - Apparently you've never gone into the LGBT answers section on here - or into any LGBT chat room, for that matter. Christian zealots THEMSELVES are "so interested" in giving their OWN opinions concerning anything and everything to do with homosexuality in general. I've seen the "invasion" that Christian zealots launch in the LGBT answer section here, and especially in LGBT chat rooms on countless occasions.

Christian zealots will come in and immediately start preaching, trying to impose their beliefs, morals, and values down our throats, and/or flat-out attacking us, calling us "sinners", "perverts", "sexual deviants", and other, far more hateful slurs - and basically displaying the most hypocritically UN-Christianlike behaviour I've ever seen. When asked again and again to "leave us alone", they refuse, and go right on with their bigoted gay-bashing.

I used to hang out for hours on end in AOL's "Gay and Lesbian" chat rooms. And there was NEVER a time that I was in there when there were not at LEAST four or five Christian bigots in there, gay-bashing and preaching. They weren't happy just leaving us to ourselves, and going into their OWN chat rooms; they actually went out of their way to come into OUR chat rooms and go on the attack.

However, I have yet to see ONE LGBTer go into ANY Christian chat room and launch such an attack on THEM, say, against their religion, rather than their lifestyle, or use hateful slurs against THEM.

So, until Christian zealots finally start backing off and just leaving us be, we'll stay on the defensive, thank you very much. Because as long as THEY'RE attacking US, it'll be "open season" on THEM, as well.

After all, why should Christian zealots be treated with any respect and/or dignity, when they sure as hell don't treat US with any???

(Remember: "DO UNTO OTHERS AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM DO UNTO YOU." That applies to Christian zealots, as well, you know; and "others" means EVERYONE - including us LGBTers.)

I am a Christian ..I have NO problem with homosexuals, I agree it is observed in animals. I know Atheists that are very homophobic. This is not just a religious question. Why do you just address it to Christians. The Muslim religion isn't fond of homosexuals, why do you just attack the Christians?

The easy and possibly least argumentable point that's going to come up is, "It states in the Bible that '...a man who lays with another man shall be condemmed to death...' If you live by the Bible, then it your 'obligation' to abide by this and maybe even spread the word. "Good" Christians who say it's unnatural are merely mis-interpreting these parts of the Bible and ranting.

PS: I personally don't believe in God, and don't follow any religion. I'm just playing the devils advocate.

I am a Christian who wonders where these Christians get that homosexuality is 'unnatural'! I think it is very natural. The natural being what comes natural to the flesh in that we have a sin nature. It would seem that many Christians, no matter what the Bible says, spend about half their time denying the existence of the sin nature in them, when the Bible spends at least half it's time telling us that it is in us. Those Christians need to wake up.

If find that confessing the sin in us helps us with God. And it also bears a witness to those who are seeking God, because many of them think that being a Christian means that you can't sin; which is not Biblical. We all sin whether we want to or not, people seeking God need to know that. They are not being told the truth is Christians tell them that their goal in life is to avoid sin, it's simply not true. Our goal in life is to trust God every day through Jesus Christ. His Spirit comes and dwells in us and we become changed by His Spirit. We cannot make ourselves better for God. He makes us better by His work in us IF we have faith in Him.

So homosexuality is natural for sinning people. I myself am Bisexual. And even I can be save through His grace. This is because Jesus made it so that whoever wants to come to Him may come to Him.

I suppose that what I am saying would preclude your question about marriage. Yes, animals don't really get married. Some mate for life, so I suppose that might mean a marriage, who knows what they think? lol

Homosexuality is not unnatural.
It is another divine intervention to look after the shy, proud and different persons created by god.
We are not the judges - unless we see the beam in our eye......; nor can we cast the first stone.
If he said that to Magdalene, who am I/ - not more sanctimonious than Christ.

But whats the point of being religious if you can't use it to randomly hate people for no reason and push your views on people who don't believe them?

I mean, all that effort in church would just be a waste.

It has always fascinated me that people are so interested in the opinions of Christians concerning homosexuality.
As a Christian Preacher, I for one could care less about the opinions of my brothers and sisters.
We should concern ourselves with GOD'S opinion, not mans, and GOD has spoken all He is going to on the subject of homosexuality.
