We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does not liberate, it oppresses.

Acceptance is required if we want to be the agent for change. In order to work for change, one must accept the reality of what needs changing.

Change outside of ourselves can be denied, in spite of it's existence.

I agree. Something has to be recognized before it can be changed. I am thinking mostly along the lines of one's own personal behavior. What ultimately led me to Paganism was spending hours alone (I was single at the time) and doing some real soul-searching about who I was, who I wanted to be, and what I had to do to get there. The first and hardest step is looking at yourself and the ugliness inside you-- your attitudes, the way you treat people, your approach to life. Once I could face that, I was able to say, okay, I don't want to be like this, and made a conscious effort to be different.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of things that change, whether you accept it or not.

A lot of time, effort, denial, and strife could be avoided if some people could accept that fact.

Anyone who has a daughter can tell you that things can change a lot, and a lot faster than you'd like, no matter whether you're accepting of the change or not.

Yes. Many of the Corinthian Christians were as Paul described them. But as Paul said about them at 1 Cor. 6:9-11: "Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor men kept for unnatural purposes, nor men who lie with men, nor thieves, nor greedy persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit God’s kingdom. And yet that is what some of you WERE. But you have been washed clean, but have been sanctified, but you have been declared righteous in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and with the spirit of our God."

there is one consistent in life and that's exchange! i think exchange happens even though if we are accepting or no longer. recognition in all likelihood makes exchange much less confronting yet no longer (unavoidably) much less complicated.
