When you ask for proof of God's existence, and you want quantifiable testable evidence, don't you realize that this is a ridiculous request?

We believe in God, we believe he is an all powerful being. We believe he is super-natural, that is he exist outside of natural laws. No one that believes in God thinks there is proof of God, the only proof of God that we have is that in our hearts and mind we know he exist...and it is a good feeling. What you are asking for us to prove is impossible for humans to do. No human has the ability, despite how much knowledge they have, we just do not have the ability. The closest proof we have is personal revelation, which is non testable, but it is faith.

Let me ask you to prove something. I will give you a stick, a rock, and a magnifying glass. Using these objects, prove to me that quarks exist. I want evidence that will show me an actual quark.

Which statement has applied the principle of love in an interaction?

#1
If you are gay you are going to hell. I cannot be around you because you are such a sinner.

#2
Your personal life is none of my business. I may not agree with what you do but that is between you and whatever. I simply don't know why you keep bringing it up, it doesn't change the fact we're buds.
Anyhow, when are you AND your friend coming over for coffee?

Another example:

1 - You're an eh? When will you embrace the absolute truth? That is, what I understand to be the absolute truth. You can't possibly believe what you believe because it is all a lie! You're a sinner and I can't possibly hang out with you.

2 - Oh hey thanks for inviting me over for D&D/Movie/Coffee/etc. Cool! Yeah I got big old bag of dice. Hey thanks for sharing with about your beliefs. Those are interesting ideas. It interests me to know that others are as strong in their faith as I am in mine!

Because Jesus chose YOU and not them. Because they were born into the religion of their parents (just like you) but God created YOU with the ability to call yourself "Special" because YOU are SAVED AND THEY ARE NOT? Because Muslims Buddists Mormons and ALL OTHERS were not worthy of Christs Love and so he made their entry even more difficult than yourz because they will not know Jesus like you do and will not know Gods true Love because God in his Loving manner allowed them to be deceived just so that YOU know they are going to Hell while YOU and all your fellow Christians are blessed with eternal Glory and happiness while residing in Heaven knowing that the poor souls of those that JUST DIDNT KNOW Burn in torment. Isn't the Christian philosophy WONDeRFUL! WE ARE SO HAPPY we are going to heaven and TOO bad that ALL others BURN! But that is God's choice. EXCEPT FOR ONE THING. GOD CAST OUT HIS FAVORITE ANGEL. and sAtAn had to be a Christian because he KNEW YOU! Feeling a little crossed?

"Tonight we shall hurl the gauntlet of Science into the _________"?

This question simply asked in a philosophical way "How can we include science in our R/S questions and answers".

This question did not violate Community Guidelines in any way. Most of the people who answered this found it interesting and thought provoking.

Science and religion and spirituality are important factor of this R/S site.

Please tell me how this question was offensive except to someone who disdains "science".

You will probably find that the person who reported this as a violation was using two level one accounts and is no longer active, they have simply signed up two more accounts in order to unfairly and maliciously report other people.

If I get no response from you, I will send a copy to Jerry Chang, and ask him to "review" your appeal procedures.

I enjoy Yahoo and I know several of your sponsors are happy with my previous questions.

Beliefs in God, more acceptable?

For some reason, evangelicals and/or fundamentalists (among others) consider it quite a feather in their caps to "convert" Catholics. Some even make it their primary mission, and there are any number of web sites quite seriously dedicated to just that.

But is it honest to take advantage of the average Catholic's inability to *articulate* their faith as well as a "Bible Christian", play on their emotions, and employ the same marketing techniques one would use to sell widgets?

That's exactly what is done. Whole seminars are given on techniques for "witnessing" to Catholics -- lifted straight from sales and marketing, and given a Biblical twist. My former denomination even had "campaigns" for bringing in new converts, and nabbing a Catholic got high-fives.

Does the end justify the means? Or is it just easier to sell someone on a different version of Christianity than to evangelize those who have never heard the Gospel at all?

Do you not see that malicious unfair Religious bigots have "in the name of God" convinced you to violate Jesus' theme:

Jesus' Theme: Harmony is harmony; disharmony is the only sin against God.

... and disharmony is a sin against your neighbor, and disharmony is a sin against yourself; and disharmony is a sin that will not allow you into Heaven.

Question: Will you repent and start following the advice of Jesus; instead of the advice of Religious Bigots?

I know that it's a biblical principle (so if you have some verses that would be great) but the church doesn't run on our money alone so what is the point? I don't make very much money and I am tempted to not tithe sometimes because I don't feel like there is a point to it.

Imagine I show you a coconut, and make the claim that inside the coconut there is a liquid fluid which is drinkable.

At this point you can believe me or not. We can discuss forever whether there is a drinkable liquid fluid in the coconut or not. This is the point where religion is residing, putting faith in the existance or not.

Science takes a step further, investigates, and chops the coconut on the middle and provides you with the evidence of the first claim directly into your hands.

Religion offers an thought/speculation only, which cannot be verified nor tested. (Belief/Faith)
Science offers a evidence, which can be verified and tested.(Fact/Knowledge)

Would you agree, that this is the difference between religion and science?

Would you also agree that the one making a claim, should also be the one providing the evidence to sustain the claim?

NOTE: This is NOT to bash Christians!!!!

Exodus 35: 2-3 - "You have six days in which to do your work, but the seventh day must be sacred, a solemn day of rest dedicated to me, the LORD. Anyone who does any work on that day is to be put to death

- are doctors who save ppls lives on a sunday gonna be sent to hell because they worked on the wrong day of the week?

Leviticus 20:13 - if a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing, and both shall be put to death

- since when does something so simple such as a sexual preference override the good things ppl do in life?

the bible was written over a long period of time, how can we be sure the writers wrote down the correct things? and even today, we have problems regarding translations, can we be sure that the bible was properly translated?

I heard that Komen grants some of its funds to planned parenthood and stem cell research. Is this true? When these planned parenthood centers get their grants from Komen, do they have to use all the money on breast cancer awareness and treatment, or can they do whatever they want with it as long as some of the money goes to breast cancer awareness, cure finding, and treatment? Is there a way to donate to Komen, and ensure the funds only go to breast cancer awareness, treatment, and cure? If you are pro-life, would you reconsider purchasing pink ribbon items because of where some of that money is going, even though it is helping find a cure for breast cancer?

I think not.
I've been doing a little research here and there and learned a few things. Catholic means universal, which most of you already know. So how long after Christ died did this group of people turn away from the TRUE church of the New Testament?
I found several timelines and as far as I can tell, as early as 130 years after Christ's death, a man named Justin Martyr was writing about the Eucharist, which is completely unbiblical. Again in 150 AD, he wrote the Divine Liturgy which, again, claimed the Eucharist as fact.
In 431 AD, the Third Edumenical Council gives Mary the title Theotokis "God-Bearer" and Panagia "ALL - HOLY" and declared her an EVER-VIRGIN - before, during, and eternally after the birth of Christ.
The original church, called catholic (universal) by many was indeed the original church. However, after the Reformation, the word catholic was primarily used by the ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH and that's why we don't use the word catholic because we don't want to be
