Any of you religious people want to answer this. Why do places like the vatican for example stockpile billions of dollars in art and crap like that for showboating, while millions go starving throughout the world. Wouldnt the money the church accumulates be better spent feeding starving people and helping make their communities self sufficient instead of extravagant monuments or buildings.

Not an atheist. I believe the Bible, particularly the New Testament, I believe in Christ and that he is the Son of God.... But I never pray anymore. I used to pray with my first girlfriend but she died and I hated God for a while before becoming a Christian again, but I've never prayed since then. I believe totally in the Christian system but I have not really dedicated my life to God or resisted sin totally, I still give in to many sinful desires..... So I dunno, maybe I should stop associating as a Christian because a Christian should be pure and sanctified from sin and I am not.

What do all you guys think?

I want to go to a meeting but there are a few people that I want to avoid that go there. One is my brother and his wife. Everytime Im with them I feel low, I think they think Im stupid. Also my cousing goes to the same meeting. They are more wealthy than me and more succesful in life. When we are in family get togethers I feel left out because the talk among themselfs about world issues. When I give my opinion they have this face like "ya sure budy".

Anyway, I want to avoid them because I don't want them to think I go to the meetings for them. Also I want to sit alone, if I go they will invite me to sit by them and I don't want to.

I wish I could go to another meeting but I live in a small town and that the only kingdom hall there in the town.

I want to go and meet other JW's, and if I go with my brother and cousins and their wifes I will just feel low because that is how they make me feel. Also I've noticed that my cousins wife tries to avoid me talking to girl in meetings.

Anna - (sorry about above) Matthew 22:30 is being taken out of context. Jesus was teaching about the resurrection of the dead to a sadducces "who say there is no resurrection" vs 23 not teaching the concept of eternal marriage. He only specifies that after the resurrection there is no marriage... he never says the woman wont be married to any of them.
Christ however did teach about the eternal nature of marriage - Mark 10: 7-9
cross reference that with Eccl. 3: 14.
So this mormon doctrine can be substantiate with biblical doctrine.

I have heard people say that the Bible has many contradictions and many mistakes, but yet when I aks someone to show me the contradicitons and mistakes, they always have an excuse that they will have to look for them and show me them later. This never happens! I believe the Bible is without fault or mistake and that it is the true word of God. My question to all who say there are contradicitons and mistakes, please tell me where these contradictions and mistakes are.

I believe in God. I belive in Jesus. I think man is corrupt enough to corrupt the orginal bible. For instance i dont speak hebrew nor read it so how do i know its true.

Christians have the reputation to be hypocrites, that reputation proceeds us. I dont believe you have to be Christian to go to heaven. I dont engage in pre-judging a believer. I dont think gays are going to hell, after all im not the big guy so i literally cant judge.

People question my beliefs when they see me act out. I belive Christianity is a "perfect" practice. Toooo perfect. Thats why i want to know why i should be a Christian.

Why did Christians change their nearly 2,000 yr theology so rapidly ?

Moreover, they are nothing but thieves and robbers who daily eat no morsel and wear no thread of clothing which they have not stolen and pilfered from us by means of their accursed usury. Thus they live from day to day, together with wife and child, by theft and robbery, as arch-thieves and robbers, in the most impenitent security.
--------Martin Luther

But for us Christians they stand as a terrifying example of God's wrath.-----Martin Luther

...but then eject them forever from this country. For, as we have heard, God's anger with them is so intense that gentle mercy will only tend to make them worse and worse, while sharp mercy will reform them but little. Therefore, in any case, away with them!-------Martin Luther

Sura 5:46
And in their footsteps We sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the Law that had come before him: We sent him the Gospel: therein was guidance and light, and confirmation of the Law that had come before him: a guidance and an admonition to those who fear Allah.

Sura 2:85
After this it is ye, the same people, who slay among yourselves, and banish a party of you from their homes; assist (Their enemies) against them, in guilt and rancour; and if they come to you as captives, ye ransom them, though it was not lawful for you to banish them. Then is it only a part of the Book that ye believe in, and do ye reject the rest? but what is the reward for those among you who behave like this but disgrace in this life?- and on the Day of Judgment they shall be consigned to the most grievous penalty. For Allah is not unmindful of what ye do.

Most christians are living under the yoke of the law(10 commandments)
Do you not know that we are to repent of the dead works of the law?
To mix faith with the law is the only way to fall from grace.

My last question was - Is faith superior to reason. A couple of believers responded that faith is based on reason. Which leads to my question - what kind of reasoning.

Is not faith based on circular reasoning - can reasoning in a circle ever be considered reliable?
