This is almost a rhetorical question, but I don't understand something about heaven. I believe in it, but how does religion come into play? Is there a different heaven for each religion, and I can't believe god would send somebody to hell just for not believing in him the same way or at all. Plus there are so many different views of heaven and hell, so how does religion come into play with heaven and hell?

God is supposed to exist outside space and time, could it be that our descendants are going to build an artificial intelligence so powerful that it will exist outside space and time and will/has become God?

I wonder: Do you believe humans are infinite in wisdom and understanding? What if the Bible really holds no contradictions?

I'd like for all of you to test me. Give me one Biblical contradiction, and I'll give you one example of a misinterpretation! Please refer back to the question.

Thanks in advance for responding.

Would there be a different spiritual experience just to look at the phases of the moon to know when you were born?
And think about it, you will have your birthday in a different season every about 10 years, wouldn't it be great?

Would you say Happy Birthday (((Moon)))?

Just look at how many references there are in the Torah, Koran and the bible about heathens, infidels, smiting those who don't believe, killing those who disagree. You all know its there. How can anyone claim these "books" aren't responsible for likely the majority of intolerance on the planet?

How come when I tell someone who doesn't really believe in God OR.... has different religious beliefs who don't really praise God. How come when they sneeze and I say "God bless you" or "Bless you" they say thank you??...... I thought they didn't believe in God...or belong to a religion that dosn't recognize God.??

Does this mean everyone secretly beleives in God but doesnt know it yet????

Religion could just be about believing in a God, it doesn't have to involve how you treat others. Just as there are moral philosophies and moral Aetheists, why is there moral Christians as well? Why has Religion got a philosophy?

Jesus is real and He is our Savior! Jesus is our soon coming King. Jesus is the only way to heaven! Have faith and believe in the Almighty God Jesus Christ! Accept Jesus before its too late for you. I want you to go too heaven. Not hell. Praying for the lost! Jesus loves you!!

Think about it. There are a vast number of religions and theistic beliefs in the world, each depicting a different God. Christianity is the most prominent, at about one-third, but even the seperate denominations have their own beliefs.

So, which is it? Only one can be correct. There is a slim chance that a given individual has the truth.

And when arguing the existence of God, why do believers think that there reasoning supporting a supreme being validates their and only their particular conception of a god?

...okay probably not but that is what I am afraid of.

I have grown up in the same church all my life. the whole congregation knows me and loves me and i love them back. my priest is amazing and i love him to death. the problem?

I lost God. I used to be such a strong and devout Christian but then something happend. All of a sudden I realized that I hadnt prayed in months. I freaked out and apologized to God and tried to pray and ask his forgivness but it was awkward and I couldnt pray. I kept getting distracted. It became so bad, I stopped praying.

I go to a private school and was told if you dont accept Jesus and love God then you won't go to heaven. This scared me to death. Part of me longs for God but part of me is telling me I don't need him and can do everything on my own. I am scared I will go to hell. I am a good person but the thought of death makes me sick with nerves. I am terrified of going to hell. What should I do?

If I asked 10 about a number of verses I would get 10 different answers to there meaning. If it was the word of god why isn't it easy to understand the true meaning?

Bad translation is not a valid answer to me.

Words: Julia W. Howe, 1861, alt. This hymn was born during the American civil war, when Howe visited a Union Army camp on the Potomac River near Washington, D. C. She heard the soldiers singing the song “John Brown’s Body,” and was taken with the strong marching beat. She wrote the words the next day:

I awoke in the grey of the morning, and as I lay waiting for dawn, the long lines of the desired poem began to entwine themselves in my mind, and I said to myself, “I must get up and write these verses, lest I fall asleep and forget them!” So I sprang out of bed and in the dimness found an old stump of a pen, which I remembered using the day before. I scrawled the verses almost without looking at the paper.

The hymn appeared in the Atlantic Monthly in 1862. It was sung at the funerals of British statesman Winston Churchill, American senator Robert Kennedy, and American presidents Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.

Music: John Brown’s Body, possibly by John William Steffe (MIDI, score). John Brown was an American abolitionist who led a short lived insurrection to free the slaves.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword;
His truth is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His truth is marching on.

I have seen Him in the watch fires of a hundred circling camps
They have builded Him an altar in the evening dews and damps;
I can read His righteous sentence by the dim and flaring lamps;
His day is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! His day is marching on.

I have read a fiery Gospel writ in burnished rows of steel;
“As ye deal with My contemners, so with you My grace shall deal”;
Let the Hero, born of woman, crush the serpent with His heel,
Since God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Since God is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;
He is sifting out the hearts of men before His judgment seat;
Oh, be swift, my soul, to answer Him! be jubilant, my feet;
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

In the beauty of the lilies Christ was born across the sea,
With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me:
As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free;
[originally …let us die to make men free]
While God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! While God is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave,
He is wisdom to the mighty, He is honor to the brave;
So the world shall be His footstool, and the soul of wrong His slave,
Our God is marching on.
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Glory! Glory! Hallelujah!
Glory! Glory! Hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

I realize that not all Christians do this, but.....

Why do you keep asking this same type of questions, when you are always answered by atheists who have a better set of morals than you do? Atheists have morals because we have sole responsibilty for our actions. Yet you require a redeemer and are therefore unresponsible. We see there are consequence and benefits to all of our actions. Your system of morals consist of reward in heaven or punishment in hell.

Understand this:

When I do good, I see the benefits.

When I do bad, I and others suffer the consequences

I personally get so tired of people just copy and pasting verses from the Bible as an answer. Can you not think for yourself? Or, is that forbidden to you by your religion? I also have a problem with anyone who only ever copy and pastes. Be they atheist, Muslim, Taoist... et cetera.

The only one so far that I'm familiar with is the story "The Song of Bernadette"
Am very curious about other ppl throughout history and all over the world who had 'visions' of her, and what were each of these 'messages' given to each person when she "appeared"? thanks
