I tried to go to a party last Halloween at a Mormon church in my neighborhood. They wouldn't let us in (and we even brought a kid!). They were BEGGIN for flaming poo!

My church is planning its first Fall Festival, we are new, and its purpose is to welcome children to our Sunday School. We have planned games, treats and lots of fun. The difference between a Fall festival and a Halloween party is that the festival's focus is upon reaching children to learn about and love Jesus. Halloween is actually based upon Satanic principles and is the method that can be used to entice children and teens into the occult. One year I did hand out treats along with children's Bible tracts for Halloween. Although I don't believe in celebrating Halloween, I do not see the purpose in depriving children of treats at this time.

Here in So Cal I'm actually seeing *more* churches doing them than I used to.

I think it's not just conservative churches any more - sheltering kids from those abominable pagan festivities. I think more mainstream churches are doing it because there are so many neighborhoods that are questionable after dark, or so many folks who don't bother to give out candy any more, or just plain as a nice wholesome family and church get-together sort of activity.

my church does Hallowed be His name. Where several of our churches get together and have a big Christian party. We give candy to the kids, sing and praise God. It's wonderful.

we have what we call "fall fest" where the kids come and we play games and give out prizes, etc. Helps keep kids off the street and out of trouble.
