That Jesus did not have anything exceptional in outward appearance that made people cling to Him?

Isaiah 53 says:
1 Who has believed our message
and to whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed?

2 He grew up before him like a tender shoot,
and like a root out of dry ground.
He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire him.

3 He was despised and rejected by men,
a man of sorrows, and familiar with suffering.
Like one from whom men hide their faces
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.

-Jesus was a normal person as people followed Him because of their "belief" that He is God, and that He is their Savior! Jesus may of looked normal, nothing amazing in physical appearance, BUT He Himself was indeed AMAZING! And He still IS! He is our Lord and Savior! How awesome it is to know that the power of God is what drew people to Him, just as today (wait for it)

What dialog has a God had with humanity in modern times? I'm referring not to the internal, personal dialog which many devout followers claim to experience within their heart and head, but rather a dialog with humanity at large, a "burning bush" of sorts.

By this I don't mean for example the burning train wreck of the Bush administration, although through interpretation and wordplay this could be the case?

No, seriously, aside from our continued existence upon the earth, perhaps, what has the creator supposedly "said" to us, all of us?

Imagine person A says "Every belief should be supported by evidence" and B responds "How do you know that?"

Person A can't say "Because there is evidence to support that" otherwise they would be confirming their belief by appealing to that same belief.

This would be like saying "The Bible is true, it says so right here in the Bible."

Get me?

I just read the responses to the post that asked "Would anyone here sacrifice themselves like Jesus did?"

Seriously? That many of you would not give up your own life for mankind?

Assuming that the biblical story is true, and that this act saves mankind, you would not do the same?

Why would you not do it? A number of christians posted they would do it to save their family members, but not really for the rest of mankind. There were a number of posts in that vein and I am just completely surprised.

I'm an atheist, but I don't deem my life more important than anyone elses-so if giving my life would save others I would gladly give it up.

One person said no other human could go through what Jesus did...that is obviously untrue as what happened to him was not atypical at the time. Many people suffer far more horrible deaths.

Hi, there's this guy that I really like. I think he has a good heart but he is not living his life right. He goes clubbing and drinks when his buddies ask him out, & he wasn't raised going to church so continues not to go.

it's like he has an idea of what is right & wrong but embraces the wrong more.

What is the best approach to introduce someone to Christ without shoving religion down their throat??

Please help!

There is no "Catholic bible", or "Protestant bible". There is only "the bible". The only Christian religions that actually have a different bible from the others are BOTH Protestant. They are Mormon and JW's.

Don't believe me? Go read them all.

My bf got himself in trouble with the law (not to where he killed anyone), but the attorney is asking the parents to sign an Affidavit saying their son did not do it. I asked my parents and they said they would lie for me. My bf's mother said he's going to have to do time cause she's not going to lie for her son cause she has to answer to a higher being. Just curious what people think....

so you have accomplished nothing by creating a religion. We still don't know how matter started, whether man or something called God, so why don't we admit we don't know? Better to be honest, than to deceive everyone with religious boondoggle that tries to give an answer where there is no answer.

Let's send hugs to the trolls and YA nazis!!!!!! show them that we have no hate against them and that we recognize them as a person who makes mistakes too, because we all do.. and whomever says that don't make mistake is a total liar

((((((((((((Trolls))))))))))))))))
(((((((((((Haters)))))))))))))))
(((((((((((YA Nazis))))))))))))

Let's spread love to them and try to be a good example; while they are mean, let's be nice no matter the question or the answer, ok?
Instead of giving them a not-nice reply (even if they deserve it) let's just reply with a ((((((((hug)))))))). You are glamurous and have class, let's teach them to be like that too and ad some sugar to their YA lives.. some of them really, really need it

Much love!!!!!!!!!

I am more than a little mad right now , so forgive my rant
this young girl comes here asking for some advice ...
http://uk.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20071019093117AA7kusg&r=w#Q5cuD2C6UDDOF86_7ZY7n_SDJsTnSAs4X5mgMjPlNp4BmhKiiW3n
but it turns out the girl is only 11 .... which you can find out simply by clicking her profile
please please check peoples profiles before giving advice on extremly sensative matters such as this one
we do not know what she wants to or needs to hear
we are not all trained coucellors and even if we were ( which some of you may be ) a few words on a screen is not enough to be able to do so properly
and although the girl is obviously Christian .... she is still too young for you to be giving her your opinion on what God thinks/does in this situation
please please if you have children of your own ... think what you would say to them
you would most likely say .... dont ask strangers for advice on these things and keep yourself safe
