"And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was 675,000 sheep, And 72,000 beeves, And 61,000 asses, And 32,000 persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him . . . of which the Lord's tribute was 32 persons. And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord's heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses." (Numbers 31:32-41)
Are there any priesthoods where this would still apply? No I'm serious..................

believing in the things that are "out of the realm of thinking"..such as the rapture..such as God, being born into flesh from a virgin. These things take Faith ..and trust in God to believe. Instead of searching for ways to twist the scriptures to make these beliefs seem unreasonable..Why not search the scriptures and pray to be shown the truth? I realize it take faith to believe what you do as well..But, in some of the answers I read from JW's..I get the feeling that they think these beliefs of other Christians are "unreasonable" and foolish..Just something I was thinking about and wondering about your feelings on this.

I heard from someone at my ward that not everyone is meant to get married in this life. Now, I'm a total worrier. Will the Patriarch let me know if I am meant to get married and have kids in this life or the next? Will he specify? Thanks in advance!

Thank you for your answers! :)

This is how poligamy was started.
GOD REVELATION TO PROPHET- since your people died in this great tragedy while following you . I will allow poligamy and for you to repopulate your religion.

This would never happen and im using it as an example

GOD REVELATION TO PROPHET- I believe that there are too many homosexuals. So i am going to allow u to kill the homosexuals. and once they are all gone. i will change the law back.

WHY CAN MORMONS NOT SEE. I BELIEVE THAT JOSEPH SMITH IS A TRUE PROPHET OF GOD. AND RESTORED THE CHURCH AS WE KNOW IT TODAY. BUT YET HE LIED AND SAID THAT HE RECEIVED REVELATION FROM GOD TO ALLOW POLIGAMY. WHY IS THIS .

It is better to defend against questions like "When confronting Catholics about their man-made traditions...?
do you ever feel like you are casting pearls before swine? Will they ever listen to God's word? Do you know anyone personally who was raised catholic and suddenly believed the truth of the Bible?" or is it better to just ignore such "questions"?

I am thinking that this was not really a question as it was an attack and accusation with a question mark on the end of the attack.

Are we legitimizing such hatred when we reply?

I've looked at various web site that claim that all Popes since Pope Jonh XXIII (who they say was a Freemason?) are illigitimate or heretics. One guy is calling him self Pope Michael I (who by the way lives with his mother, as mentioned on his web site), then there are a few going by the name Of Pope Peter II and Pius XIII or that the seat of Peter is vacant. What's the deal?

The same "artist" who made an anatomically correct, nude Jesus out of chocolate is back with a scratch n sniff Virgin Mary. We have had a cross in a cup of urine labeled art. Many other disgusting and disgraceful depictions mocking Christianity.

My question is: Is it time for Christians to stand up against this type of thing? I am not talking about standing like Muslims and killing/calling for the killing of people over it, but what about protests, boycotts, etc. Or is this like banning a book, and only makes the book (or in this case "art") more popular?

I'd like to put attention to another section of Yahoo Answers - "Social Sciences => Psychology".

There people get along fine. The amount of trolls is minimal, (if any at all), and the atmosphere is friendly and cozy.

How come R&S can't be like that?

Do you take pride in that you are loving follower of Christ?

Be honest with your answers please.

And if you do take Pride in this then are you not committing a sin?

As Pride is one of the Seven Deadly sins.

Be true with your answers as if you lie that you do not but in fact you do then you will be committing another crime.

No offence to religious people, huh.

Thank you for your answers.

I can't think of a reason. I am happy in my life the way it is - completely free of religion.... so you could say that now I can't go to heaven.
But I look at it this way:

IF there is a heaven, this caring and loving God won’t mind if I have rational doubts about him and rational reasons for not believing in him. This god won’t punish me for exercising my critical thinking skills. And he'll let me into heaven.

And if this god sends people to hell forever for rational doubt, why would anyone want to spend an eternity with such an egotistical monster? So not spending eternity with this god doesn’t sound like much of a loss.

So therefore I can remain atheist, seeing as there is no reason to bother believing.
I love life. And I explained the afterlife situation, so why bother changing?

Do you find yourself rushing through life trying to make everything happen?
Have you ever said, "Stop the World, I want to get off?"
Have you trusted the Tao, and let your life be what it is and become what it will be?
Talk to me.

Remember: Be what you are for, not what you are against. See an answer you do not like? Can you resist the urge to give it a thumbs down?

The personal experience of God is often cited as proof of His existence. ("I know God exists because I have felt him in my heart")

So, here's my question, can you give three examples of experiences that people have honestly felt that have turned out to be mistakes, misinterpretation or simply imaginary?

I'll give you my three:

Racing to the hospital after experiencing a heart attack, only to find out you never had one (maybe it was gas or a cramp)

Reporting a UFO sighting to the newspaper, only to find out later it was a hot air ballons or swamp gas.

Scared out of your wits from a creaking noise in the attack, only to find out later it was an open window and a gust of wind.

I really don't get why Christians assume that their god is so vain that doubting his existence is such a huge abomination.

Seriously, why would this god send people to hell for eternal suffering just for having rational doubt?

Your god sends NO evidence to show that he exists... so would he really care if people are skeptical and using science and reason to come to their conclusions?

And anyway, if we are skeptics.. aren't we just using the brain that YOUR god gave us?

So people go to hell for thinking... why?

It seems to me that believers would be more anarchist in nature, and that for many, their belief in God is the thin string that separates them from acting on those impulses.

If it were proven today, beyond the shadow of a doubt to anyone, that there is and always has been a supreme being, I could see Christians gloating and being quite smug, while my fellow atheists graciously accept defeat. Evidence is all most of us require to believe (not worship - believe).

However, if it were proven today, beyond the shadow of a doubt to anyone, that there was, never has been, and never will be a supreme being, I could see my fellow atheists, while probably being quite smug, accepting the fact that they already believe to be true.

Believers, on the other hand, I could see wigging out. Bad. I'm talking about Watts, Reginald Denny, etc. I don't think many Christians could handle the very thought, let alone the reality of there being no god. The result? Anarchy.

Thoughts?
