Its not a religious board. Its a forum to ask and answer questions about religion and spirituality. This doesn't mean you have to subscribe to either.

No person on this planet knows the answer to the question, ''Does God exist?''. This answer is unknowable with any methodology currently available. To believe there is a God, therefore, requires a belief in the unknown. To believe there is no God also requires a belief in the unknown.

The only difference is most Atheists do not accept this. They have somehow been mislead or have mislead themselves into believing that science supports their position. This is simply not true.

You can see a kind of arrogance in their responses that is indicative of a sort of fundamentalism. They seem to think themselves as somehow superior. But, take it from someone who has been around a while, there are none so blind as he who WILL NOT see.

I suppose they frequent this area because they need to constantly reassure themselves.

I have written the Yahoo! Answers staff 4 times via emails to differing customer care addresses plus forum boards to ask why there are so many atheistic Top Contributors in the Religion and Spiritually section. I have never gotten a reply. These so-called Top Contributors continually are Bible haters, mockers and insulters; what good do they contribute? I guess all it takes is to spend a lot of time in one category and get enough "Best Answers" to become a Top Contributor. Voting for your own answer would be enough to get a double digit percentage. I should go to the Gay and Lesbian section and mock and insult them all the time but I wouldn't want a Top Contributor badge from there! Why do atheists want a Top Contributor badge from here?

The term non-believer applies to those of us who believe in many gods. We just don't follow your God.

And many come in here because "Believers" are the majority and are constantly trying to apply religious laws to our secular gov't. The religion has certain groups that feel it is necessary to knock on everyone's door at 7am on Sunday morning to find out if they've "heard about Jesus". They're on tv all weekend, but get upset if a Pagan group pays for their own show on a local cable channel. They act as if they are the only one's who can come to forums like this... or they think we're hypocritical for being here, as if we can't possibly have an opinion on such things. They distrust Atheists simply because they don't believe in any Higher Power of which NO ONE can prove the existance of.

Why wouldn't non-believers come to a place like this to discuss something that is practically in our face 24/7?

The board is called "Religion & Spirituality". Which are two different things.

Any monkey can be made religious if enough brainwashing applied or if monkey does not know any better.

Spirituality does not have anything to do with being religious.

You're probably right. Yahoo should combine "Religion with Mythology & Folklore and Old Wive's Tales" and then there would be little or no objection and religious fundy's wouldnt be harassed by atheists anymore because what atheist in his or her right mind cares about the mythological origins of Christianity, Judism or Islam?

This is NOT a religious board. It is a question and answer forum about religion and spirituality. If there was no religion, there would be no Atheists.

It's a little early to start drinking, I better go grab a cup of Java.

This is a board to talk ABOUT religion & spirituality.

There is no law or rule that says you have to belong to a religion to talk about it.

Since a handful of noisy right wing Christians are constantly trying to shove religion down our throats, why shouldn't those who don't want religion shoved down their throats be able to talk about separation of church and state ?

prob close to the same reason that the folks who come over to the Science/Space area go there... to argue the Big Bang vs. Creation... to see what's going on in the minds of those who confuse them.... etc....
I come here to keep up on what the belief of the day is..... and to help in some way when there's no other answers forthcoming that make sense.....

Errr...it's religion and spirituality, not 'Narrow minded believers in a Christian God'. Everybody is entitled to an opinion and it's easy pickings when the 'faithful' have less knowledge of the Bible than non-believers.
