I know that tea and coffee are forbidden -- but what about Coca-Cola, Pepsi, No-Doz pills, etc.? Is the prohibition just against tea and coffee, or against the caffeine molecule?

p.s. If all you want to do is insult the LDS Church, then please don't answer this question. I'm not LDS myself, but can't we treat each other with a little respect around here?

Tea and coffee are prohibited. We don't know if it's the caffiene or not. There have been tests run on the chemical make-up of coffee and over half of the 700 known chemicals in it are know to cause cancer and other negative things. I'm guessing the same thing goes for tea. Tea refers to Black tea.
Personally I drink Mountain Dew which has caffeine and eat chocolate which has caffeine. I also drink herbal teas. My sister takes caffeine pills to keep her awake at work. She works nights at a mental home.

There are those who do stay away from all caffeine sources.

Blacks have been regularly allowed to be individuals; they would now not preserve the priesthood till 1978. That stated, there have been blacks that held the priesthood in Joseph Smith's time. Why? I have no idea for sue. However, the quote you may have above from McConkie is his opinion. It isn't authorized doctrine of the church and in my opinion, I don't consider it. There is not any denying that there was once a few racism within the church, however that was once whatever that inflamed the entire nation. The behavior of this church toward blacks was once larger than plenty of alternative church buildings the identical time intervals. The LDS church by no means had segregated congregations, for illustration.

The 'prohibition' is only coffee and tea. Members are not restricted from consuming products with caffeine. Some will avoid it because it may harm you, If it is addictive it is wrong for you.

If you leave coffee, tea or cola in a porcelain cup over night, you can see the difference the next day. I personally do not like colas, except as meat tenderizer.

No. They're not allowed much. They've given over the right to think for themselves to a Higher Power--the Church Almighty. Sad, but it's none of our business.
