Four of my contacts have been suspended in the past three days. The amount of reporting seems to have gone up. Is something in the air, or is it just this new reporting system?

Actually make that five, I just found out about another.

Linz: Tig, Windom, Deke, Squirrel, Thrice, Skalite. That's actually six.

I totally spotted this going on yesterday. I noticed a lot of my contacts, and even Y!A users I don't know, receiving unjustified thumbs down ratings for their answers. Case and point, people were getting thumbs down ratings for their answers to Joe F.'s "favorite hot dog toppings/religious beliefs" question. WHAT THE HECK?!?!?!?! There's no right or wrong answer to that. Furthermore, I received a violation notice the other day for the question I posted in R&S asking if any regulars had a Myspace page or Shutterfly account. I appealed my violation notice because I feel that it was unjustly given. It was placed in the proper category since the question was addressed towards the R&S regulars, and it wasn't an attempt to chat. I was just curious as to what the regulars look like. I agree with you that there are some reporting trolls lurking about lately. I seriously am considering writing to Y!A in reference to its reporting/violation policy. Y!A states on its FAQ that, "If a question or answer is reported by one or more reliable users, it will be removed." I know it would be time consuming for the Y!A staff, but I seriously think they need to review the reports in a case by case matter. I know there are members who have united in attempt to suspend/delete the accounts of other users they don't like. This is extremely unfair to those who get their account suspended/deleted for illegitimate reasons. And I don't want to have to make my account private, but with the way things are going I may have to. TOTALLY LAME!

It's probably just one or two people who get a power trip from clicking the report button.

Or maybe Em Adjineri has come to life and is reporting everybody who doesn't agree with her creationist viewpoint.

P.S. I heard Windom Earle is back with a new ID.

Hello!

Yeah I knw right? Even Love Yahoo!!! and I are gettng violations for questions that would not normally get them! wahhhhh. It sucks so much...I even got a violation for that ROAM game I did the other day that closed! I picked a best answer, and they issued a violation! what?

I'm removing the fans I have that I don't trust. Many of them I know I can, but if they aren't of the same mind as me, then dropping them. Can I trust everyone on this question? *eyes suspiciously...*

I cleaned out at least 20 of my contacts for this...and unless i get a hit-up at myspace form you, then I'm blocking all future contacts. It's so sad that it had to come to this, whoever my violation fairy was/is, you're pathetic.

Deke is too much LOL..... I just find this whole system ludicrous. Also, if people don't like you or your question/answer they could just ignore it.... that makes far more sense to me. I've been tempted by people who are way out in left field but I just refuse to stoop to that level. It's a public forum. If people really can't handle it then they need to find another hobby.

Who are the five you speak of? I bet some of them were my contacts too. I can't keep track of who is getting suspended anymore. I can't figure out why they would do that! Especially Tigg. I mean come on, really, how could Tigg do anything suspension-worthy?

I got 5 violations yesterday.

I also got 2 people trying to connect with me that I did not know and I blocked them.

I didn't know people got suspended, I assumed you just got your account deleted after a certain amount of violations.

Pay no mind to the violations...if we stop asking and answering, THEY win. LOL

Couldn't help but use the philosophy of W on this one although it pains me to quote him.

EDIT: Nixity - you have to roam...you are the best asker around! You always defend your questions with lots of edits and name calling. You rule!

People have finally realized the new system lets them troll in ways never before considered. They're using it to harass other posters.

yep, mine too. i got a crazy violation yesterday that was in no way a violation. i've given up in trying to fight those. as we all know, they NEVER do anything about it.

there have been lots of new people in here lately. it may be that they report things that don't go along with their beliefs because they think that's what they're supposed to do. i don't know, i'm just grabbing at straws. either way it's so frustrating!
