I have noticed when discussing bad behavior, and someone points out that Christians have also engaged in that bad behavior, there seems to be two common responses.

If the behavior in question is REALLY bad, (mass murder, torture, etc) then the answer seems to be "well, they weren't really Christian".

Milder bad behavior seems to be explained away by saying "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven" or "Christians are still human, and will still make mistakes".

This confuses me, because I thought the fundamentalist standard was "sin is sin". So why do some sins mean the person or person in question really isn't/wasn't a Christian and some sins just mean that the person is a forgiven Christian, who is still human and still subject to sin ?

What's the dividing line between a forgiven Christian and a false Christian.

And why is that when non-Christians engage in the same behavior that would be considered ok for a "forgiven" Christian, they are still considered evil ?

I cant understand how someone could dismiss the "proof" of science sometimes being fact when five thousand plus years of scientific progress was needed to casually write this sentence online. When asking for proof, what I say is it took a scientist to make a plane fly and a theologian to fly it into a building.

Notice how the nations will destroy the prostitute

Earlier today my sister in law was rinsing dishes and then set them into the dishwasher to be washed. She shut the door but had not started it yet. Then all of the sudden there was a loud crashing sound from inside. One of the glass cups had just shattered into pieces for no reason. We were laughing about it but she thinks it is a ghost and I can't think of any reason for this to have happened.

Jesus was crucified which saved christians. But I want to know what they're ''saved'' from. I always hear this phrase but nobody ever explains it to me. I'm not Christian, I'm just trying to understand. And if someone's saved through his sacrifice, then how about those Christians engaged in sin?

You know, being atheist is fun and all but I think this could really be something to base my life around. Actually, I think that it's not really "believing" in Google, because we well know Google exists, but instead acknowledging it as our God. However, I must promise myself to not use yahoo for search, though I wonder if I can still use yahoo answers? Not sure, but this seems waayyyyy more interesting than the Christian bullcrap force-fed to me through my childhood.

Just going by my history classes it tends to be that most anti-semites have been atheists in the past .i.e. Hitler, Stalin and Communist leaders.... Please may I ask you ? Do you hate me because I am Jewish ? If you do please explain why ? ( Dont worry...I can take it...I expect nasty and harsh sarcasm anyway )

Why do SOME Christians think it is all right to scare the crap out of their children with stories of going to hell? I mean, if your child is gay or wants to worship another way,but helped with charities or end up with a really good scholarship, shouldn't you just be proud that they are a good person?
(I did say some, because my mother is just proud that I am making something of my life and she is a catholic.)

Atheists...if God isnt real because you cant see Him...then would you have thrown away a microscope in europe when the plagues raged because you had never seen an invisible germ ? Would you have stopped Columbus' boat from sailing since you had never seen the round earth that wasnt really flat ?

Why is it that the Pope is supposed to be considered infallible? After all, the Pope is just a man like any other. If he truly makes a mistake, what happens? Is the Pope considered a sinner or does he have special priviledges on that too?
