I cant understand how someone could dismiss the "proof" of science sometimes being fact when five thousand plus years of scientific progress was needed to casually write this sentence online. When asking for proof, what I say is it took a scientist to make a plane fly and a theologian to fly it into a building.

Just to note evolution is considered the unifying theory of all biology and to date the only unifying theory of science. The first theory of mankind that can explain an entire subject in one line. Pretty factual to my mind.

I believe that all things were created but I also believe in evolution. Evolution is a fact not a theory. If people would actually research information on evolution they would be shocked to find out that it has nothing to do with the beginning of life. Dictionary.com describes evolution in biology as "change in the gene pool of a population from generation to generation by such processes as mutation, natural selection, and genetic drift." As you can see there needs to be a given population in order for evolution to happen. Evolution's existence doesn't mean God doesn't exist. I believe God created life but also created evolution so that life could continue to survive.

Only an idiot would think all science is a lie. Certainly some things have been proven and some things are still theories, i.e. with the information we have we believe this to be true. Some theories are eventually proven false. Up until just a few days ago the appendix was believed to serve no purpose. It has now been proven that it does have a purpose as a storing house for good bacteria. Because of our healthier diets it basically lies dormant but it does have a use, especially in third world countries where nutrition and health are not as good as they are here. In that respect Chrisitans are a lot like Atheists, they say prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a God and Christians say prove that the evolution theory is 100% accurate. Neither side can do that. Certainly most Christians believe in evolution with a species but not that we evolved from another species. Until that missing link can be found most Christians will reject that part of the theory of evolution.

I am a Christian and I do believe in science but not evolution. Science is God's detailed explanation of how things work. Science has always existed, but he has given mankind the knowledge power and the resources to explain these things. We were created by an intelligent God and science does not discredit the fact that He is, but rather it supports that he exists. The fact that we are so magnificently made makes me discredit the who "evolution" theory. It is impossible to me that someone so complex and smart can evolve from a mere monkey. Nothing that anyone can say to me will make me believe that. We were purposely made to have all the functions that we do.

"what I say is it took a scientist to make a plane fly and a theologian to fly it into a building."

That's gold.

I hope you don't mind if I use that?

Creationists are selective; they only have problems with scientific theories that are a threat to their dogma. It doesn't seem to matter that these theories are supported by decades or centuries of evidence, spanning dozens of disciplines and hundreds or thousands of learned individuals.

It also apparently doesn't matter that creationist "scientists" typically don't have a degree in the fields they claim to be experts in, or that they are even aware of the history and most modern discoveries related to those fields.

There is nothing of substance to any creationist argument. How can there be? Their entire argument is; "I don't know how this happened, therefore god exists". Or, "This is too complex for me to understand, therefore god exists".

*ALL* creationist arguments are arguments from ignorance.

I guess my question for you is do believe everything science tells you...?

I don't believe everything a preacher tell me... I research and make sure that it lines up with the scriptures.

Just like when a scientist posts a theory... Does everyone believe it?

Sometimes.... I just need more proof. Sometimes there isn't a good enough explaination for me.

True religion and actual proven scientific fact are in harmony, in fact science only re-affirms the power and wisdom put into all dynamics surrounding the physical world , for example gravity , without it we would not exist . Another example, that the earth is the perfect distance, at the perfect angle and rotation from the sun that sustains life. I could go on

I find it interesting that the USA population has a high % of Creationists, and also ( from internationally conducted surveys ) one of the lowest awareness/knowledge rates in the population of science and scientific method.
It frightens me that the most powerful nation on Earth houses such ignorance.I know that it frightens many US citizens too.
I`ve just read more of the other answers.....the evolutionists have never said that humans evolved from apes, monkeys or similar. The point is that we share common ancestors. The differences emerge slowly- differently in different populations- causing a divergence over time

I personally have no problem with science and scientific methodology.

What I find amusing is when science is confronted by evidence that they can't explain, they resort to theories and conjectures that are more metaphysical than scientific.

When confronted by their own observations that all matter came into existence at the big bang, and that prior to that, there was no matter, they abandon science and conjecture that the vibrations of super strings brought about matter.

Sorry, but that's pretty far fetched. And if somehow true, then why isn't it happening all the time, and why isn't matter being destroyed by other vibrations of these super strings?

They might as well claim the sun still revolves around the earth.

I believe God created science to fit our world perfectly--a beautiful creation. As a lover of science and a Christian, I know there are scientific theories for many things, but there's no way the human race is going to discover all the unanswered questions.

No-one knows better than a creationist that evolution has occurred, even though most of them understand very little about biology! YEC literature contains gargantuan lies, about both science and the Bible, and you can't make those and not sincerely believe the opposite of what you state.
