Could human technology eventually create a cosmic and benevolent intelligence? Could we continue to learn and grow after our bodies die, forever? Since we've made up so many religions about this exact thing, maybe we really would like to have it?

I see so much hate here with the bible used as justification.

It has made me extremely cranky and disheartened with the state of religion today.

Please speak up and be counted.

so it seems according to the way god acts in the book of genesis, that one could deduce that if one disobeys god everyone should be held accountable to the same punishment. the snake convinces eve to eat from the tree of knowledge, consequently god curses all snakes to crawl on their bellies for all their lives. eve eats from the tree of knowledge, consequently all women are cursed to have painful childbirths. so keeping with this order god has established, wouldn't it be reasonable to assume that if one person denies god, and is sent to hell, that everyone, even those who worship god, should be without exception damned to hell as well?

Do you think that religion is %99 pure stupidity mixed with one part lying? Do you want to tell that to religious people whenever they're asked to "respect" their faith?
or do you by contrast, believe that religion is more complicated than the stupidity and that we should at least make an effort to get along with religious people?

You have to follow the Ten Commandments, Pray to God, read the Bible,do not judge, and accept Jesus into your heart. That is what I do everyday, and I also go to Mass every Sunday

What do you believe will get you to Heaven?

About going to heaven or hell if you commit suicide? I was at a funeral yesterday and the preacher was told us that (we'll call him) Mark had asked for forgiveness before he had killed himself (weeks prior) and therefor he won't go to hell. I have always been taught that if you kill yourself you go to hell......What do you think?

Did you ever see that episode of the superman cartoon where superman goes into darksides world to fight him? In that world he see hundreds of people enslaved and tortured. At the end of the episode after superman defeats darkside he assumes that the people will rejoice and claim their freedom. Instead, to supermans surprise the people run to darksides aid. They carry him to safety. Superman, being perplexed beyond reason just stands there in his fruity little outfit. Darkside looks at superman, musters enough strength and says to superman.

"In this world, I am god."

Do you think that episode describes all of the religions, gods and people of the world?

BTW- for the record, superman would never ever beat the Hulk.

My wife Paula and I was recently called over to a young mothers house. Her husband had left her and they were reconcilling their differences. As we visited with the young lady she brought out that they were using drugs and didn't see this being something that they would stop doing any time soon. She assured us that she loved the Lord and asked that she be annointed with oil and prayed for.
We did not feel that we could annoint her with oil while continuing to live in sin.She was not asking for a healing but wanted the blessings of God anyway. We prayed for her and her home encouraging her take take a more serious look at their lives.

and start fundraising to help get awareness about the disorder to the public and to help with research, and to help other children so they wont have to suffer so much, where do you put your heart? I am told that everything you do must be to serve God and to glorify him. If I am Helping my child to help others, where does God fit in? I am doing this to help the children, not to glorify God, so in a way I am sinning right? and why would God send me to hell for it? because really everything I do is to help my fellow man, not to glorify God and put God first. I am really confused on the Christian thought process here. because I dont see how you put God in the middle of something with all these children hurting.

Who exactly do you guys worship? God, or Jesus? Because I hear people saying that Jesus is God's son, but then I hear others saying that Jesus is God. So is it like you guys believe in two Gods. That isnt monotheistic. And the religion was originally monotheistic. So doesnt that mean the religion was changed sometime through the years by somebody?
Also, if you guys believe that Jesus is just the son of God, then why do you guys worship Jesus more then God? Even if you guys believe Jesus died to save you or something like that, shouldnt you guys be worshipping God?
And where does the Holy Ghost come in?
Is it like a third God?
Ive been wondering about this for a while now. So I thought I'd ask.
Please help un-confuse (not a real word is it? =P) me. Thanks.
